Pay special attention to water conservation and groundwater enrichment to ensure continuity of water sources – Shri Kamal Kishore Son

During his visit to Kondagaon, Additional Secretary of the Government of India and Director of National Jal Jeevan Mission, Shri Kamal Kishore Son gave instructions to pay special attention to water conservation and groundwater enrichment to ensure continuity of water sources. He asked to conduct maximum water testing before and after the rainy season and to clean the water tanks twice a year. Along with Area Officer Shri Umesh Bhardwaj, he inspected the Single Village Drinking Water Scheme operated under Jal Jeevan Mission in village Juganikalar of Farasgaon development block of Kondagaon district. He saw the operation of the scheme, water distribution system and the process of checking the quality of water.

During this, Shri Kamal Kishore Son, Director of the National Jal Jeevan Mission, said that providing clean drinking water to the villagers is the highest priority. He instructed to ensure active participation in the work of the mission by training one person in each village and to provide clean drinking water by cleaning the water tanks at regular intervals. He gathered information from the villagers about the use of toilets constructed under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) and guided the Sarpanch and Secretary of the Gram Panchayat for proper disposal of wastewater coming from the houses.

During Mr. Son’s inspection, Mrs. Sangeeta Netam, Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayat Juganikalar, informed him that since the scheme’s launch, villagers no longer have to rely on hand pumps; instead, clean water is being supplied to every home. This has brought considerable relief to the villagers. Executive Engineer Mr. Virendra Pandey informed that a scheme costing more than Rs. 2 crore 15 lakh has been approved under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Juganikalar. Water is being supplied to 409 homes here through a 65 kiloliter RCC water tank and a solar water tank.

During the inspection by Additional Secretary of the Central Government, Mr. Kamal Kishore Son and Area Officer, Mr. Umesh Bhardwaj at Juganikalar, Chief Engineer of Bastar Division, Mr. G.L. Lakhera, Superintending Engineers, Mr. Kailash Madharia and Mr. R.K. Shukla, along with many villagers were also present.
