Quick relief to the families of villagers who lost their lives in elephant attacks

  • On the initiative of Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, Surajpur District Administration distributed compensation amount.

Following the instructions of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister, Mrs. Laxmi Rajwade, the district administration and forest department acted swiftly and distributed compensation to the families of beneficiaries who were victims of an elephant attack in Kalyanpur, Surajpur district. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Minister Mrs. Rajwade directed officials to provide the relief funds to the affected families without delay.  

Following the death of two villagers from Kalyanpur in Surajpur district in an elephant attack, the Forest and Climate Change Department (Surajpur Division) took prompt action under the financial year 2026-27. According to departmental documents, compensation has been approved and distributed to both affected families, with beneficiaries Smt. Kanti Bhoi receiving Rs. 550,000 through DBT in her bank account, and Smt. Rajeshwari Singh Shyam receiving Rs. 550,000 through DBT in her bank account. The Divisional Forest Officer, Surajpur, has also received Rs. 50,000 each through DBT. 

Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade stated that the safety of the area’s people and standing with them in times of crisis is a priority of the good governance government. The administration is vigilant in reducing elephant-human conflict and will provide all possible assistance to those affected. 
This prompt action has provided financial support to the affected families, for which the area’s public representatives and villagers have expressed their gratitude to Minister Smt. Rajwade.
