Raipur will become the ‘Enlightenment Hub’: Principal Secretary Shri Sonmani Bora

Four new hostels have been completed in Saddhu to provide better opportunities for students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs, and other weaker sections in the capital Raipur to prepare for competitive examinations. Their total capacity is 1,000 seats. Principal Secretary Shri Sonmani Bora stated that the capital Raipur is soon developing into an enlightenment hub for students from these communities.
The Principal Secretary informed that the students staying in these hostels being built in Saddhu will be prepared for all competitive exams including Civil Services, NDA, CLAT, NET, SLET, PT, PMT, IIT, Medical. The entire campus has been developed in about 18 acres. The newly constructed hostels include 500-seater for coaching for Eklavya dropper students, 100-seater for OBC boys and girls, 250 seats for vocational education, research and other higher education for Scheduled Tribe girls. Its cost is Rs. 35 crore 30 lakh 64 thousand. It is worth noting that Prayas already operates hostels for backward class students including boys and girls in Saddhu.

Principal Secretary Mr. Bora instructed officials to maintain constant monitoring of all ashram-hostels operated by the department in the state. He directed regular review of the hostel-ashram management system website and make necessary improvements. Mr. Bora also suggested including tribal lifestyle and “My Own Developed Village” in the national painting competition to be held on February 20-21.
In the meeting, Mr. Bora personally discussed the inclusion of unique local arts such as wall painting, Gond art, and other local arts, and directed for joint large-scale programs on the occasion of Aadi Parb, seminar, and International Women’s Day to be held in the coming month of March. Senior officials, including the Director of the Tribal Research and Training Institute, Mrs. Hina Animesh Netam, were present at the meeting.
