The Sports and Youth Welfare Department is organizing selection trials on May 28 and 29 for admission to the region’s first residential sports academy, which is being started in Bastar divisional headquarters Jagdalpur. Children in the age group of 13 to 17 years can participate in the selection trials being organized at Dharampura Sports Complex in Jagdalpur. The talent of the selected children will be honed by giving them training in archery, football and athletics in the residential academy. They will be prepared for big level competitions. Children wishing to participate in the selection trials have been asked to appear with age certificate, educational certificate and certificate of sports achievements.
Officials of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department informed that on the first day of the selection trials, on May 28, from 7 am onwards, players’ registration, document verification, medical and physical fitness tests will be conducted. Sports skills will be tested on the second day of the trials, on May 29. Selected players will be given free training at the residential academy to be run at the Indira Priyadarshini Stadium. During the training, players will be provided free accommodation, food, educational expenses, sports training and playing kits, accident insurance and world-class training facilities at the academy.
To participate in the selection trials, players can contact the Sports and Youth Welfare Department office in their district. They can also register directly on the day of the trials, May 28th, at 7 a.m. at the Dharampura Sports Complex in Jagdalpur. Twenty players each from archery and athletics, and 25 from football, will be selected for training at the residential academy.
