- Elderly woman got the right to live with dignity among the sons and daughters, the responsibility of providing for the four sons and
- a peaceful settlement of the years-old family dispute.
In line with the spirit of ” Patriotism – Public Service ” of Madhya Pradesh Police, constant sensitive initiatives are being taken by the police to solve the problems of senior citizens and provide them a dignified life. In the same order, in the Senior Citizen Police Panchayat run by Vidisha Police, family , property and maintenance related cases related to senior citizens are being heard and resolved effectively through mutual agreement and settlement.
Superintendent of Police Vidisha Shri Rohit Kashwani directed and Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. A total of 08 cases were heard in the Senior Citizen Police Panchayat meeting held under the guidance of Prashant Chaubey . In the meeting, the problems of the concerned parties were sensitively heard by the members of the core committee and efforts were made to resolve the disputes through necessary consultation and compromise.
- Amidst beton ki berukhi the elderly got the right to live with dignity
An elderly wife of a retired government employee complained that after the death of her husband, both her sons and daughters-in-law left her. Due to financial constraints, she had to beg for her husband’s last rites. After this both the sons were trying to evict him from the house asserting the right over the house.
After listening to both the parties in the panchayat, it became clear that the house is the property of the petitioner’s husband. After the consensus of the core committee, both the parties agreed that the elderly will not be subjected to any kind of mental or physical torture and they will be allowed to live in the house with dignity without any hindrance. Also , the right to take decisions regarding the property keeping in mind its future service and maintenance will also be reserved.
- Peaceful resolution of disputes
A senior citizen of Shamshabad area complained of being assaulted by his son and daughter-in-law and threatened with weapons by other family members. After hearing both the parties in the Panchayat, the valuation of the disputed room and the arrangement of proper payment was suggested. Both the parties agreed to this solution and decided to move forward in the direction of mutual satisfaction in relation to the grievances filed earlier.
- Responsible for the sustenance of the four islands
A senior citizen of Kurwai area complained that his four sons had fraudulently transferred the land in their name and were no longer supporting him. After listening to both the parties in the panchayat, it was suggested to give 2 thousand rupees per month to each son , on which all the parties agreed.
- Ending years old family dispute , resolve to start new with sweets
A senior citizen of Ganjbasauda area had complained of a long-standing dispute and fight with his brother and family. Mutual egos and misunderstandings emerged as the main reason for the dispute during the extensive hearing. After the agreement of the Panchayat, both the parties decided not to dispute in future , to maintain amicable atmosphere and to try to resolve the issue by mutual consent even in the case of old cases. After this, both the parties decided to start afresh by feeding each other sweets.
Other matters were also heard in the meeting. In some cases, a future date was fixed for the production of necessary documents and evidence and for ensuring the presence of the parties concerned.
Madhya Pradesh Police is committed to protecting the safety , dignity and rights of senior citizens. Through initiatives like the Senior Citizen Police Panchayat, the police is not only resolving disputes , but also providing emotional support , legal guidance and confidence to the elderly to lead a dignified life.
