- A joint effort by banking and social organizations to connect orphaned and destitute children from child care institutions with skills, training and employment.
Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister of Chhattisgarh Government, Smt. Laxmi Rajwade has taken an important state level initiative towards rehabilitation, skill development and self-reliant future of orphan and destitute children residing in child care institutions.
In this regard, he met with Axis Bank’s India Head, Mr. Vijay, and Catalyst for Social Association’s India Head, Ms. Smita Randhe, at his residence office and discussed in detail the issue of connecting children with vocational training, technical assistance, and employment-oriented opportunities.
The meeting discussed concrete support for providing necessary facilities, skill-based training, and employment opportunities to children living in childcare institutions through Axis Bank’s CSR fund. This initiative is not limited to just protecting children, but is an effort to guide them towards a respectable and self-reliant life.
“Connecting orphaned and destitute children with education, skills and employment is a priority for the state government. Our endeavour is to ensure that every child living in child care institutions moves forward confidently into the mainstream of society,” said Mrs. Rajwade.
He said that this initiative was launched about a year ago with community support for the social rehabilitation of children residing in child protection and child care institutions. Currently, it has been successfully implemented in five districts of the state. Now, an action plan is being prepared to expand it to all districts of the state.
Minister Smt. Rajwade stated that with the cooperation of the state government, social organizations, the corporate sector, and industrial houses, every possible effort will be made for the holistic development and effective rehabilitation of the children. She specifically emphasized that providing skill development, digital training, employment guidance, and opportunities for self-reliant living to the children of child care institutions is the need of the hour.
Axis Bank’s India CSR in-charge, Regional Manager, Director from the institution, Mr. Deepesh, State Head, Mr. Jinesh, and other bank officials were present on the occasion.
