- Roshan from Tarrem becomes successful entrepreneur of rural digital services

Properly leveraging government schemes and determined efforts can transform a person’s life. Young entrepreneur Mr. Roshan, a resident of Tarrem (Basaguda) in Bijapur district, is an inspiring example. With financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program ( PMEGP ), he launched his Roshan Online Center and Photocopy Service Center, and today, he has become a trusted hub for digital services in rural areas.
- Understanding the needs of the villagers, he started the business.
Seeing the growing demand for online services in the remote forested village of Tarrem and surrounding villages, Mr. Roshan decided to start his own business. He learned about self-employment schemes from the District Trade and Industry Center in Bijapur. He then prepared a project worth approximately ₹1.50 lakh and applied for a loan from the State Bank of India, Basaguda branch.
- Financial assistance received under PMEGP scheme
The bank approved his proposal. He also received a grant (subsidy) of 35,000 rupees under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme. With this assistance, he purchased a computer, printer, photocopier, and other necessary equipment to start his business.
- Digital services are available in the village itself
Today, through the Roshan Online Center, villagers are able to access many important services locally. These include Aadhaar-related services, online applications, document printing, photocopying, scanning, and other digital services. People no longer have to travel to distant cities for these services, saving them both time and money.
- Increased self-confidence with self-employment
With the success of his business, Mr. Roshan has not only become self-reliant but also a source of inspiration for other young people in the area. He believes that with proper guidance and the benefits of government schemes, successful enterprises can be established even in rural areas.
