Under the Atal Vayo Abhyudaya Yojana (Cataract Free India Campaign), a special vehicle was flagged off from the Joint District Office premises for free operations at AIIMS, Raipur, for 25 identified senior citizens from the district. District Panchayat Chairperson Mrs. Kiran Vaishnav, District Panchayat Vice Chairperson Mrs. Kiran Sahu, District Panchayat members Mrs. Jagriti Yadav, Mrs. Sheela Sinha, Mrs. Kiran Barle, and District Panchayat CEO Ms. Suruchi Singh were present on the occasion.
Deputy Director of Social Welfare Mrs. Vaishali Mardwar stated that skilled eye assistants conducted eye examinations for senior citizens aged 60 years and above at all primary health centers located in all development blocks of the district. The primary objective of the Atal Vayo Abhyudaya Yojana is to make Chhattisgarh, and India, cataract-free. To achieve this goal, the district has set a target of performing cataract operations on 100 senior citizens. In the first phase, 25 senior citizens from among the identified patients along with their family members were sent to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS Hospital) Raipur by a special vehicle. After examination by the expert team at AIIMS Hospital, free operation will be done. Under the leadership of Nodal Officer Mrs. Sukhma Chandravanshi, associates Mr. Santosh Sahu, Mrs. Kanchankala Meshram, Mrs. Aradhana Thawait, Sameerakshatri and the team left with the identified patients.
