Vishwas Bai’s dream of secure housing comes true after receiving a permanent home under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

  • MNREGA, Ujjwala, Jal Jeevan Mission and other schemes have made life easier

A safe roof over one’s head and a respectable home are every family’s dreams, but financial constraints often leave this dream unfulfilled. For a long time, Mrs. Vishwas Bai, a resident of Senhabhata Gram Panchayat in the Pandariya development block of Kabirdham district, faced a similar situation. After her husband’s death, she was forced to support her family by working as a laborer and living in a mud house. The mud house presented difficulties in every season. The unbearable heat in summer, the cold winds in winter, and the leaking roof and waterlogging in the rainy season only exacerbated her problems. During the rainy season, she had to stay up all night to drain water, and the constant fear of poisonous creatures remained. In such circumstances, a concrete house was just a dream for her.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), implemented by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai and in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, initiated a new transformation in her life. After qualifying through the Awas Plus survey, her house was approved for the year 2025-26. With government assistance and administrative guidance, she began construction of her permanent home, and a long-cherished dream came true. Today, Vishwas Bai lives safely and respectfully with her family in her new permanent home. She no longer worries about rain, storms, or the weather. This strong and secure housing has given her family new confidence and stability.

Along with the housing scheme, she also benefited from other government schemes, including wages for construction work under MNREGA, a toilet under the Swachh Bharat Mission, a gas connection under the Ujjwala Yojana, tap water supply through the Jal Jeevan Mission, electricity, a ration card, an Ayushman card, and the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. These facilities have made her life more comfortable and better. Vishwas Bai says she never imagined she would own a permanent home. Today, standing in the courtyard of her new home, she feels proud and satisfied. Expressing her gratitude to the government, she says she not only received a house, but also the confidence to live a safe and dignified life.
