- Three-day training program at SIRD Nimora, training being given to Panchayat representatives
To effectively implement the Vikasit Bharat – Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Gramin) (VB Jiramji) Act, 2025, a three-day state-level workshop is being organized from August 3-5 for all elected district panchayat members of the state at Thakur Pyarelal State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (SIRD), Nimora, Raipur. The workshop aims to develop the capacity of public representatives by familiarizing them with the various provisions of the Act, their responsibilities, and the procedures for effective implementation.
The chairpersons of various standing committees of the district panchayats were also present at the workshop. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Taran Prakash Sinha, Commissioner of the Vikasit Bharat-Jiramji Yojana, stated that the role of Panchayat representatives is crucial in realizing the goal of a developed India. He added that in line with Vision @ 2047, the VB Jiramji Act, 2025 has been enacted to economically and socially empower rural India, which includes several important provisions related to employment, livelihoods, and overall development for rural families.
- Guaranteed 125 days of employment and a daily wage of ₹300.
Mr. Sinha stated that under the Act, every eligible rural household is guaranteed 125 days of employment per year. The wage rate has also been increased to ₹300 per day. He added that all development works under the scheme will be selected and approved through the Gram Sabha, further strengthening public participation, transparency, and accountability in the development process.
- On the second day of the practical training workshop for district panchayat members,
district panchayat members from Surguja, Raipur, and Bastar divisions enthusiastically participated. During the workshop, Joint Commissioner Shri Ramdhan Shrivas, SIRD faculty member Shri Anand Raghuvanshi, and other master trainers provided participants with detailed information about the various provisions of the Act and their practical implementation.
- Training sessions focused on all important aspects of rural development,
including the concept and objectives of the VB-Giramji Act, 2025, the role and responsibilities of Panchayati Raj Institutions, preparation of a comprehensive Gram Panchayat plan, works to be sanctioned under the scheme, registration of eligible families, rural employment card, monitoring and supervision system, grievance redressal system, convergence with other rural development schemes, financial management, transparency, accountability, social audit, natural resource management and livelihood promotion.
- Participatory and sustainable rural development will gain momentum.
The objective of the workshop is to empower district panchayat representatives with the necessary knowledge, skills, and practical understanding to ensure effective implementation of the Act in their respective areas. This will further strengthen the role of gram sabhas and provide new impetus to participatory, transparent, accountable, and sustainable rural development.
