- Nutrition and child development services are being continuously expanded under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, another significant achievement has been recorded towards strengthening women and child development services in the state. As a result of the special initiative and sustained efforts of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, approval has been granted for the rationalization and operation of five new Anganwadi centers in Surajpur district.
According to an order issued by the Directorate of Women and Child Development, this decision was made based on the guidelines of the Government of India and the approval of the state government. This will make nutrition, health, and pre-primary education services more accessible to children, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls in remote and needy areas.
The approved centres will be operated at Dagmalapara (Chendra Sector), Bhunda (Moharsop Sector), Jhaduadih (Chendra Sector), Pandopaara (Chendra Sector), Bagaihapara (Darripara Sector) under Odgi and Bhaiyathan project.
The centres have been approved keeping in mind the population, geographical location and local needs of these areas.
According to a departmental order, some previously operating Anganwadi centers will be rationalized and relocated to areas with greater need. The objective of this process is to ensure effective access to services for as many beneficiaries as possible while making better use of available resources.
The Directorate has directed the district administration and relevant project officers to ensure that all newly approved Anganwadi centers are operational within 60 days. Instructions have also been given to ensure necessary updates on the Nutrition Tracker and ICDS portal, provision of worker and assistant positions, and availability of buildings and other necessary resources.
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade stated that the state government’s goal is to provide every child with nutrition, health security, and quality elementary education. She added that the approval of new Anganwadi centers in Surajpur district will directly benefit children and mothers living in remote settlements and further strengthen the resolve for a malnutrition-free Chhattisgarh.
According to departmental information, after the approval of these new centers, the total number of Anganwadi centers in Surajpur district will increase to 2086. This decision reflects the state government’s commitment to inclusive development, maternal and child welfare, and increasing access to basic services in rural areas.
