The National Child Health Program and the Chief Minister’s Chirayu Yojana have brought back the joy of hearing to an innocent child. Mayank, from Rajnandgaon district, lost his hearing at the age of about one and a half years. This situation was extremely difficult for the family, but the promptness of the health department and effective coordination with government schemes gave Mayank new hope for treatment. After examining the child’s condition, the RBSK team completed the necessary paperwork and, in coordination with the family, without wasting any time, referred Mayank for treatment to AIIMS, the country’s prestigious medical institution. There, Mayank’s cochlear implant operation was successfully performed under the supervision of expert doctors.
After the operation, the emotional moment arrived, one Mayank’s parents had been waiting for. When the cochlear implant machine was turned on for the first time, Mayank heard his parents’ voices for the first time. Seeing their child’s reaction to hearing welled up in tears of joy. This emotional moment became a living example of the success of the Chief Minister’s Chirayu Scheme and the promptness of the Health Department.
The health department is continuously monitoring Mayank’s health after the operation. After being discharged from the hospital, he was sent to a CRC (Regional Rehabilitation Center) for further treatment and rehabilitation. Here, under the supervision of experts, Mayank is receiving speech and hearing therapy to help him better understand sounds and learn to speak like normal children. Mayank’s story illustrates how timely identification, proper guidance, and effective implementation of government health programs can make a huge difference in a child’s life.
