With the aim of preserving and promoting Chhattisgarh’s rich folk art and cultural heritage, and providing financial support to artists, the Directorate of Culture and Official Language has invited entries from the state’s folk artists under the Chief Minister’s Folk Artist Incentive Scheme-2026. The objective of the scheme is to preserve and promote traditional folk arts, enhance the respect of artists, and provide new impetus to the sustainable development of art groups.
Artists involved in dance and music, folk theatre, folk tales, Chhattisgarhi songwriters, instrumentalists, craftsmen, Chhattisgarhi cuisine (traditional dishes), and Chhattisgarhi beauty (make-up) can apply under the scheme. Applications must be sent in the prescribed format via registered post. Application forms are available on the department’s website and can also be obtained from the Directorate of Culture and Official Language, Naya Raipur.
Under the scheme, eligible artists will be required to register on the Chinhari portal. Selected artists will receive an incentive amount ranging from a minimum of ₹12,000 to a maximum of ₹24,000 per year through e-payment. This amount will be provided once per financial year.
The scheme’s benefits will be available only to artists whose annual income from all sources does not exceed ₹96,000. An income certificate issued by a competent authority will be mandatory. Bank account details, IFSC code, and a photocopy of your PAN card must also be submitted with the application.

The deadline for receiving entries is August 31, 2026. When submitting applications, clearly mark the envelope with “Chief Minister Folk Artist Incentive Scheme-2026.” The received entries will be evaluated by a committee, and the committee’s decision will be final and binding.
The Chief Minister’s Folk Artist Incentive Scheme is an important initiative toward preserving the state’s rich folk art traditions, honoring artists, and economically empowering them. Through this scheme, folk artists will not only receive financial support but also have the opportunity to gain widespread recognition for their art and pass on their cultural heritage to new generations.
