South East Central Railway is continuously accelerating the renewal works of tracks and turnouts, giving the highest priority to railway safety. The objective of these works is to improve the quality and reliability of tracks, ensure safe and smooth train operations, and provide passengers with a safe and comfortable travel experience.
In this context, during the last financial year 2025-26, 357.66 CTR units of track were renewed under rail and sleeper renewal works in South East Central Railway. Similarly, in the current financial year 2026-27, 116 CTR units of track have already been renewed from 01 April 2026 to 31 July 2026.
Under track renewal, old rails or rails that have completed their prescribed service life, sleepers, and all necessary connecting and fitting equipment associated with them are renewed. This enhances the strength, durability and reliability of the track, which is extremely important for safe train operations.
Similarly, special attention is also being given to the renewal of turnouts, which play an important role in moving trains from one railway route to another. During the last financial year 2025-26, 459.50 weighted numbers of turnouts were renewed. Meanwhile, in the current financial year 2026-27, 117.50 weighted numbers of turnout renewal works have been completed from 01 April 2026 to 31 July 2026.
South East Central Railway is giving special priority to the renewal and maintenance works of tracks, sleepers and turnouts.
