The Mahatari Vandan Yojana has not only empowered women in the state financially but also shown them a new path to self-reliance. The story of Mrs. Sita Verma, a beneficiary from Ward No. 11 of Mahasamund city, exemplifies this change. She has received her 31st installment under the scheme so far, and the regular financial assistance has played a significant role in easing her family’s difficulties.
Sita Verma explains that her family consists of 11 members. Making ends meet while juggling family responsibilities was challenging. During these times, the regular funds received under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana proved a significant support. She used this money to purchase a sewing machine to strengthen her livelihood.
After receiving the sewing machine, she began sewing from home. Gradually, work began to come her way, creating a new source of income. Now, she contributes to her family’s financial needs through her skills. Sita says that the assistance she received from the scheme has not only provided her financial support but also given her the confidence to stand on her own feet. She explained that previously, she worried about taking out loans to meet her family’s needs, but regular financial assistance and income from sewing work have significantly reduced her difficulties. Today, she feels herself moving toward self-reliance.
Mrs. Sita Verma expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai for providing continued financial support to women through the Mahatari Vandan Yojana. She said, “The way Vishnu Bhaiya cares for women like an elder brother and pays regular installments has eased the difficulties of women like us. Now, we too are able to fulfill our family responsibilities with strength.”
