- Prepare a roadmap to improve NAAC-NIRF ranking, fill vacant posts quickly and promote innovation and startups.
Governor Shri Ramen Deka today held a meeting with the Registrars of various government universities in the state and conducted a detailed review of various important topics, including academic quality, student numbers, filling vacant positions, implementation of the National Education Policy-2020, and innovation and startup activities.
The Governor inquired about efforts being made to increase the number of students in universities in proportion to the number of seats and directed that work be prioritized in this direction. He said that any systemic deficiencies in universities should be addressed and academic quality should be continuously improved. Reviewing the effective implementation of the National Education Policy-2020, he directed that all universities should have the position of Professor of Practice in accordance with the National Education Policy.

Shri Deka, after reviewing the vacant positions in universities, directed that they be filled expeditiously. He urged that efforts be made to prioritize locally qualified and talented individuals in the recruitment process, as per the rules, so that local talent can get opportunities. Mr. Deka reviewed the status of the NAAC and NIRF rankings of universities. He urged all universities to develop a clear roadmap to improve their rankings.

The Governor directed universities to adopt villages nearby and promote innovation and startup activities there. He emphasized that the knowledge, expertise, and resources available in universities should reach rural areas. Special attention should be paid to connecting students with innovation and entrepreneurship to address local problems. He directed to increase the active participation of youth in the “Drug-Free Youth, Developed India” resolution campaign and to encourage students to participate in sports. He emphasized the importance of ensuring
fair , transparent, and leak-proof examination systems. The Governor directed that internal audits in universities be mandatory and that internal committees be formed for this purpose. He emphasized ensuring that the examination system is fair, transparent, and leak-proof, and that all universities should officially appoint Controllers of Examinations. He also directed to pay special attention to the arrangements of private medical colleges run under AYUSH University, so that the functioning of these institutions is ensured as per the prescribed standards and rules.
The meeting was attended by Secretary to the Governor Dr. C.R. Prasanna, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Secretary Agriculture Department Dr. Siddharth Komal Pardeshi, Secretary Higher Education Department Mr. Avinash Champawat, Commissioner Medical Education Department Mr. Ritesh Agrawal, along with concerned officers and Registrars of various government universities of the state.
