Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren held a high-level discussion today at the Jharkhand Mantralaya with officials regarding various critical land-related matters concerning the Greater Ranchi Development Authority (GRDA) and the Ranchi Smart City project. The meeting involved comprehensive deliberations on planned urban development, city expansion aligned with future needs, and the creation of modern urban infrastructure. The Chief Minister directed officials to conduct a holistic study on the feasibility of developing satellite townships in other urbanized districts of the state, modeled after the Smart City concept. He instructed them to formulate a concrete action plan that takes into account available land, infrastructure, connectivity, civic amenities, employment prospects, and the needs of the future population in the respective districts. Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren emphasized that urbanization should not be limited merely to the construction of buildings and roads but should be developed to be citizen-centric and aligned with future requirements. He called for efforts to develop modern, well-organized, and sustainable urban centers in the state where residents have easy access to superior basic amenities, a safe environment, seamless mobility, and quality public services.
- Discussion on the action plan for the future expansion of Ranchi Smart City
Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren asked officials to prepare a detailed action plan for the future expansion of Ranchi Smart City, based on an assessment of its current scope and available resources. He stated that, given the growing population, economic activities, and urban needs, it is essential to work systematically right now towards the long-term and balanced development of the city. The meeting also included discussions on holding future talks with Heavy Engineering Corporation Limited (HEC) regarding land and other issues to ensure the planned development of the area. The Chief Minister directed officials to study all relevant aspects and ensure the necessary preparations are in place. Expansion of Employment and Economic Activities Alongside a Modern Urban Environment
Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren stated that the state government aims to create a modern, safe, inclusive, and well-organized urban environment that facilitates ease of living and provides better amenities for citizens. Projects like the ‘Smart City’ initiative will not only give a new direction to urban development but also generate fresh opportunities for investment, employment, trade, and economic activities. He directed the officials associated with the project to expedite all critical processes—including land-related tasks—through effective coordination, to regularly review progress, and to achieve the set targets within the stipulated timeframes. The Chief Minister emphasized that every urban development plan must consider the needs of future generations alongside current requirements, enabling Jharkhand’s cities to establish a distinct identity in terms of development, amenities, and civic services.
