Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai met Union Textiles Minister Shri Giriraj Singh in New Delhi today and discussed in detail the expansion of the textile industry, investment and employment opportunities in Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister informed the Union Minister about the special incentives given to the textile sector in the state’s new industrial development policy and the investments coming into this sector. The two leaders also discussed developing Chhattisgarh as a major textile and apparel manufacturing hub in Central India and integrating modern technology, design and innovation with the state’s traditional textile skills.
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that Chhattisgarh has vast potential for the development of the textile sector. The state government has included the textile sector as a thrust sector in the Industrial Development Policy 2024-30. Under this policy, attractive incentives and grants have been provided for entrepreneurs investing in this sector. As a result of these provisions, investor interest in the textile sector has increased rapidly and paved the way for the establishment of new units in the state.
The Chief Minister stated that the primary objective of the state government’s industrial policy is to generate investment and generate maximum employment for local youth. To this end, special incentives have been provided for industrial units employing more than 1,000 people. The textile and apparel industries, being labor-intensive, have the potential to provide a large number of direct jobs. With these provisions of the new policy, Chhattisgarh is rapidly emerging as an attractive destination for textile investment.

Chief Minister Shri Sai informed the Union Minister that the establishment of new textile industrial units in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar is gaining momentum. The state government’s effort is to establish not only production units here, but also a comprehensive ecosystem for the textile and apparel sector, in which design, production, skill development, modern technology, and market facilities are interconnected.
The Chief Minister said that the textile industry’s unique characteristic is that it creates relatively large employment opportunities, as well as offers extensive opportunities for women and youth. Increased investment in this sector will open new employment avenues for local youth and encourage ancillary industries and local entrepreneurship.

Referring to Chhattisgarh’s rich textile and handicraft tradition, the Chief Minister said during the meeting that the state’s Kosa silk holds a distinct identity both domestically and internationally. The state government is striving to elevate this traditional skill to new heights by integrating it with modern design, technology, branding, and a wider market.
He said that the establishment of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NFT) in Chhattisgarh will play a vital role in this direction. It will provide the state’s youth with opportunities for high-level education and training in fashion design, textile technology, and related modern fields. It will also enhance the potential for local weavers, craftspeople, and entrepreneurs to benefit from design and technological innovation.
Collaboration between national-level institutions like CHATTHJ and new textile units will help develop a strong value chain from design to manufacturing in the state. This will provide an opportunity to integrate Chhattisgarh’s traditional textile art with new products and designs tailored to the needs of the modern market.
