With the aim of providing a platform for Chhattisgarh’s rich folk traditions, ballads, and cultural heritage, the Department of Culture, Government of Chhattisgarh, is organizing a three-day ‘Lokrang Parv’ (Folk Festival) as part of its ‘Departmental Events 2026’. This cultural event will take place on September 6, 7, and 8 at the Open-Air Stage (Muktakashi Manch) located within the Mahant Ghasidas Museum complex in Civil Lines, Raipur. The program will commence at 7:00 PM each day.
Through ‘Lokrang Parv’, Chhattisgarh’s diverse folk art forms will be presented on a single stage. The event will feature vibrant performances of traditional ballads, folk theatre, folk songs, and folk dances that bring to life the essence of Chhattisgarh’s soil and its unique cultural identity.
- From Bharthari and Pandwani to Panthi and Karma
Performances of renowned folk art forms such as Bharthari, Pandwani, Dholamaru, Lorikchanda, Nacha, and Gammat will be the main attractions of this three-day event. Alongside these, presentations of traditional folk dances like Sua, Karma, and Panthi will connect the audience with the folk lifestyle of Chhattisgarh.
Furthermore, the event will highlight the state’s cultural diversity and the depth of its folk traditions through performances of vocal styles such as Bansgeet, Dewargeet, Dadariya, Jasgeet, and Sanskar-gayan (traditional ceremonial songs).
