- Two-day National Conference on BOCW Begins in Mumbai
A two-day national conference on Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) has commenced in Mumbai, aimed at strengthening the welfare, social security, and interests of these workers. Held on September 11 and 12, 2026, the conference features detailed discussions on ensuring a safe, dignified, and prosperous future for construction workers across the country.
The national conference was attended by Union Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, Madhya Pradesh Labour Minister Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, and Chhattisgarh Labour Secretary Shri Him Shikhar Gupta, alongside senior officials and representatives from various states.
Chhattisgarh was represented at the conference by Dr. Rampratap Singh, Chairman of the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, and Shri Girish Ramteke, the Board’s Secretary. During the event, various states shared their experiences regarding welfare schemes, best practices, and innovations implemented for the benefit of workers. Additionally, strategies are being formulated to ensure the effective implementation of social security schemes and to maximize their reach among construction workers. This event is considered a significant step towards making the social security system for the nation’s construction workers more effective and accessible.
