A joint delegation comprising members from the Ranchi District Durga Puja Committee, the Ranchi Metropolitan Durga Puja Committee, and various peace committees met Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren today at his official residence on Kanke Road, Ranchi. On this occasion, the delegation members greeted the Chief Minister by presenting him with a Chunri (sacred stole), an idol of Goddess Durga, and a bouquet.

They also humbly requested him to participate in the auspicious festival of Durga Puja. The delegation members stated that under his leadership, the Durga Puja committees are not facing any difficulties or problems, as they are receiving full cooperation from the district administration. The committee members commended the state government—and the Chief Minister in particular—for this positive initiative, noting that the support from the district administration has been highly satisfactory. They expressed hope that this cooperation would continue in the future.

Expressing their gratitude, the members mentioned that officials from the district administration have held multiple meetings with great sensitivity to resolve all their issues before the commencement of the Durga Puja festival. They thanked the Chief Minister for this support.

The delegation informed the Chief Minister that grand and attractive Puja pandals are being constructed in the capital, Ranchi, this year as well, with robust arrangements being made for the safety and convenience of devotees. Accepting the cordial invitation extended by the Durga Puja committee members with pleasure, the Chief Minister assured them that he would participate in this year’s Durga Puja festivities, visit various pandals, and seek the blessings of Mata Rani.

He expressed his happiness that, just like every year, they are preparing for the Durga festival with great devotion, dedication, and enthusiasm. He prayed to Mata Rani that the tradition of the sacred Durga Puja festival continues for ages to come. Addressing the delegation, the Chief Minister emphasized that while upholding faith and tradition, it is essential to ensure that idol immersion is carried out in an environmentally friendly manner. Noting that the condition of the city’s ponds and water bodies often poses an environmental challenge after idol immersion, he urged the state government and the Durga Puja committees to coordinate and formulate an eco-friendly action plan for the immersion process. He suggested that the committees devise an alternative arrangement where idol immersion can be conducted in an eco-friendly way, while still honoring faith and devotion.

Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren asked the Durga Puja committee delegation to ensure that hoardings raising awareness about de-addiction are displayed at various Puja pandals during the festival. He stated that the vision of creating a drug-free Jharkhand can only be realized through the mutual coordination of the state government and social and religious organizations. It is essential at this time for all of us to fulfill our significant responsibility regarding the anti-drug campaign and to urge our families and society—especially the youth—to avoid becoming addicted to any form of substance abuse. Members of the Puja committees assured Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren that banners and hoardings raising awareness about de-addiction would be displayed at the Puja pandals. Special initiatives, such as public announcements, will also be undertaken to raise awareness among the state’s youth and encourage them to stay away from substance abuse.
