The pledge for a drug-free India resonated during ‘Good Governance Festival’: Villagers, public representatives and officials took the ‘Oath of Drug De-addiction’.

30 May 2026: A very important and sensitive initiative was taken today at the district level camp of Good Governance Festival 2026 organized in Gram Panchayat Badgaonkhurd under Bharatpur Block of District Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur. Under the “World No Tobacco Day” to be celebrated on 31 May and the nationwide “Drug Free India Campaign”, all the people present in the camp were sworn in to stay away from drugs and build a healthy society.
In this prestigious program organized under the guidance of Social Welfare Department (District MCB), all the villagers present at the camp site, local public representatives, Panchayat officials and district and block level officers and employees unanimously took the pledge of drug de-addiction.

During the oath taking ceremony, all the people present raised their hands and took a pledge that they themselves will not consume any kind of tobacco products, cigarettes, alcohol or other intoxicants. Along with this, they will continuously create awareness to make their family, neighbourhood and the entire rural area drug free. Officials of the Social Welfare Department said on this occasion that intoxication not only ruins health, but also makes the entire family and society economically and socially weak.

  • Public representatives and officials boosted the morale

Senior public representatives of the area and officials of the district administration participated enthusiastically in this collective oath taking ceremony. They appealed to the villagers that the real objective of this Good Governance Festival will be fulfilled only when every village and every house of ours becomes drug-free. Emphasis was laid on making collective efforts to save especially the youth from drug addiction. This event was one of the main attractions of Good Governance Festival, which, along with the benefits of government schemes, also spread a big message of social reform in the area.
