- Farmers busy preparing for Kharif season
With the arrival of the Kharif season, farmers’ hopes begin to take shape on the fields. The dream of a good harvest is only realized when fertilizers and seeds are available on time. The improved preparations by the administration and cooperative societies in the Balodabazar-Bhatapara district have largely alleviated farmers’ concerns this time. Balchand Bandhe, a farmer from the village of Pahanda, is a living example of this.
Balchand Bandhe has been involved in farming for years. For him, farmland is not just a source of income, but the foundation of his family’s prosperity and future hopes. This year, he plans to cultivate paddy on approximately 25 acres, including his own land and land acquired on lease and lease. For farming such a large area, the timely availability of adequate fertilizers and seeds is crucial.
Amidst preparations for the Kharif season, Balchand was worried that a shortage of fertilizers and seeds might hamper his plans. However, this time, the proactive measures taken by the government and administration transformed his worries into confidence. Through the cooperative society, he received timely access to adequate quantities of quality fertilizers and seeds as needed.
Now, instead of waiting for crucial farming seasons, Balchand has already secured advance purchases of fertilizers and seeds. This will allow him to begin sowing and other agricultural activities without any hindrance as soon as the weather becomes favorable. The timely availability of resources has not only reduced his worries but also increased his enthusiasm for farming.
Balchand says, “A farmer’s biggest concern is whether or not they will be able to get fertilizers and seeds when needed. This time, all arrangements have already been made. The government and administration are standing with farmers, which has increased their confidence in farming. Thousands of farmers are benefiting from the well-organized fertilizer and seed distribution system in the district. With the timely availability of agricultural inputs, farmers are preparing for farming with better planning, and the expectation of good yields has also increased.”
