- 15 days extra time was given for
In a major decision in the interest of farmers, the central government has extended the minimum support price (MSP) purchase period for chickpea, lentils, and mustard by 15 days. This decision, taken under the price support scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM ASHA), is considered important in ensuring farmers receive better prices for their produce.
This decision was made during a high-level video conferencing meeting of state agriculture ministers chaired by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Chhattisgarh’s Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Agriculture Production Commissioner Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, and Agriculture Director Rahul Dev participated in the meeting.
- Now farmers will get more time

The meeting decided that during the 2026-27 Rabi marketing year, farmers will be given 15 days to sell their chickpea, lentil, and mustard produce at the support price. This will help them avoid receiving low market prices and take full advantage of the DACH.
Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam has appealed to the state’s farmers to take maximum advantage of the extended period. He said that farmers should go to their nearest cooperative society and sell their gram, lentils, and mustard so that they can benefit from the government-determined support price.
He also said that if farmers need any kind of information or assistance, they can contact the committee manager, field staff of the Agriculture Department or the Deputy Director Agriculture Office of the concerned district.
- Important steps towards increasing income
This decision by the central government is being considered an important initiative toward increasing farmers’ income and ensuring fair prices for their produce. This will provide special relief to farmers who were unable to sell their produce within the stipulated timeframe.
