- Enforcement action gained momentum on instructions
- Stringent and record action taken to protect the interests of farmers
Under the guidance of Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department is emerging as an effective model at the national level in ensuring the availability of quality fertilizers, protecting the interests of farmers and establishing transparency and accountability in the agriculture sector.
The Agriculture Department is launching a comprehensive campaign to provide quality fertilizers to farmers and effectively control counterfeit and substandard fertilizers. Chhattisgarh has set an example for the country with its enforcement action during the current Kharif season under the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985. Registering a 10.25-fold increase in total action compared to 2025, the department has increased its action from 44 to 451 cases.
It should be noted that under the leadership of Agriculture Development and Farmer Welfare Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, the Agriculture Department is prioritizing protecting the interests of farmers and conducting intensive inspections across the state on the quality, storage, sale, and distribution of fertilizers. As a result, the sale of substandard fertilizers has been effectively curbed and a transparent supply system for agricultural inputs has been ensured.
- Strict action boosts confidence
Agriculture department officials said that in the year 2026, a significant increase was recorded in every area of enforcement action. At the same time, strict action against irregularities has increased the confidence of farmers towards the departments. It is noteworthy that in this Kharif season, in comparison to last year, the number of cases presented in the court increased from 4 to 56, while seizure action increased from 2 to 98. Similarly, cases of license suspension increased from 3 to 97, license cancellation increased from 2 to 10 and sale ban action increased from 33 to 183. Apart from this, 7 FIRs were also registered for the first time, which reflects the strict monitoring and zero tolerance policy of the department.
Under the leadership of Agriculture Minister Mr. Netam, the department has ensured that only certified and quality fertilizers are available to farmers. Regular inspections across the state, sample testing, prompt redressal of complaints, and strict action against erring sellers have further strengthened farmers’ confidence.
- Efforts towards prosperous agriculture through agricultural inputs
The Agriculture Department’s objective is not only to take action, but also to increase farmers’ income and productivity by ensuring the quality of agricultural inputs. Through strict adherence to regulations, continuous monitoring, and a transparent system, the department is developing a safe and quality agricultural environment in the state.
