- 10 lakh people will get direct benefits, they will get rid of traffic jams due to years of Prabhat intersection
Regarding the delay and huge increase in the cost of the under-construction double-decker flyover project at Prabhat intersection, which is one of the busiest traffic routes of the capital Bhopal, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang held a review meeting with the officials of the Public Works Department and expressed his deep displeasure over the negligence in the project and directed to complete the construction work on war footing.
About 650 meters long double-decker flyover is being constructed from Prabhat Chaurahe (Kali Mandir Puliya) to Lala Lajpat Rai Colony. This ambitious project was approved in the year 2022, while the construction work started in 2023-24.
During construction, work was hampered for a long time due to lack of coordination and administrative disputes over shifting of drinking water and sewerage lines between the Metro Project and the Public Works Department. Due to the negligence of the officials, the problem could not be solved on time, due to which the progress of the project was stopped. As a result, the sanctioned cost of the project increased from Rs 44 crore to around Rs 72 crore. In the year 2025, the revised tariff was sent to the administrative level for approval, which was pending for a long time.
Taking these circumstances seriously, Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang called a meeting of the senior officials of the Public Works Department and said in clear words that any kind of negligence in the development works related to the public will not be accepted. He directed to remove all the pending technical and administrative hurdles immediately and complete the construction work at a fast pace.
Minister Shri Sarang also directed to repair all the service roads around the construction site within the next seven days so as to reduce the inconvenience to the citizens during the construction work.

After the completion of this double-decker flyover, people will get a big relief from the terrible traffic jams at Prabhat Chaurahe for years. Especially the journey of the passengers coming and going from Bhopal railway station will be more smooth and fast. At present, this intersection is under heavy traffic pressure every day, due to which people have to get stuck in traffic jam for long time.
Lakhs of citizens, railway passengers, employees commuting to and from offices, students and traders will get direct benefit of the flyover every day after its commencement. This will reduce travel time, save fuel, reduce pollution and improve the traffic system of the capital.
Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang gave clear instructions to the officials that the project should be completed in a quality manner within the stipulated time frame and negligence in any development work related to public interest will not be tolerated in future.
