When women’s power moves forward, the family, society, and the entire country move forward with it. Providing women with respect, security, equal opportunities, and economic self-reliance is among the highest priorities of our government. Our government is committed to ensuring that every daughter of Chhattisgarh gets the opportunity to fulfill her dreams and that every woman moves forward with confidence and self-respect. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said this while addressing the ‘Nari Shakti Samman Samaroh’ organized by the Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium in the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College campus in the capital Raipur. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai felicitated women who have made notable contributions in various fields, including medicine, education, sports, cyber security, journalism, art and culture, agriculture, women’s entrepreneurship, social service, and women’s safety. He also released a brochure based on the Nari Shakti Samman Samaroh.
- Honoured women are an inspiration for our daughters
Congratulating and extending his best wishes to the honoured women, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that these women have established a distinct identity in different fields through their hard work, talent, courage, and determination. Their achievements are not merely personal successes, but an inspiration for thousands of daughters who are moving forward to realize their dreams.
He said that honouring such women is truly an honour for that feminine power which instills values in the family, gives direction to society, and plays an important role in nation-building. The women of Chhattisgarh are today making their mark in every field, from farming and agriculture to entrepreneurship, education, sports, social service, and modern technology.
The Chief Minister said that in Indian culture, women have always been accorded the highest place. Our scriptures say that where women are respected, the gods reside there. Expressions such as Lakshmi-Narayan, Uma-Maheshwar, Siya-Ram, and Radha-Krishna are symbols of that cultural consciousness of ours, in which women are regarded as the foundation of power, compassion, creation, and values. The state government is translating this spirit into reality through schemes and policies.
- Women’s Commission should also become a strong medium for awareness along with justice
Chief Minister Shri Sai congratulated and extended his best wishes to the newly appointed Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission, Dr. Mamta Sahu, and said that she has been entrusted with an extremely important and sensitive responsibility. Her experience in social and public life, understanding of the law, and higher education will prove useful in discharging this responsibility.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that under the leadership of Dr. Mamta Sahu, the State Women’s Commission will play an effective role in ensuring justice for the mothers and sisters of the state, protecting their rights, and providing legal assistance to women in distress.
He said that the role of the Women’s Commission should not remain limited only to resolving complaints. The Commission should reach villages, towns, tribal and remote areas and make women aware of their legal and constitutional rights. Women should have the confidence that in any difficult situation, the government and its institutions stand with them with sensitivity.
- Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, women’s power has received new opportunities
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, women in the country have received a new identity, respect, and unprecedented opportunities to move forward. The ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign has worked to bring about a positive change in social attitudes towards daughters. Historic decisions have also been taken to increase women’s participation and representation.
He said that today, the fact that Smt. Droupadi Murmu is serving as the President of the country, the highest constitutional office, is a matter of pride and inspiration for the women of the entire country. Prime Minister Shri Modi believes that the journey towards a developed India cannot be completed without women’s leadership and their active participation. The Chhattisgarh government is also working with the same resolve to connect the women of the state more strongly with the mainstream of development.
- Mahtari Vandan Yojana has boosted the confidence of sisters
The Chief Minister said that women’s economic self-reliance is the strongest foundation of their empowerment. Through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, more than 68 lakh women in the state are being provided financial assistance of one thousand rupees every month. The 31st instalment of the scheme has already been transferred to women’s accounts.
He said that this amount is not merely financial assistance, but has become a means of strengthening women’s self-respect, confidence, and ability to make their own decisions. Women in villages are using this amount for their small needs, children’s education, healthcare, and activities related to self-employment.
The Chief Minister said that keeping in mind the important festival of Raksha Bandhan, the government transferred the assistance amount to the sisters’ accounts ahead of time. The happiness and needs of the mothers and sisters of the state are the government’s priority.
- More than 13.85 lakh Lakhpati Didis have become a symbol of self-reliance
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the women of the state are today writing a new story of economic self-reliance through self-help groups. Along with sewing and embroidery, agriculture and forest-produce-based activities, small industries, and self-employment, women are now also advancing in modern technological fields such as drone operations.
More than 13 lakh 85 thousand women in the state have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’. This is not merely a figure, but evidence of the positive economic transformation that has taken place in the lives of millions of families. The government’s effort is to provide entrepreneurship opportunities to an increasing number of women by connecting them with skills, capital, markets, and technology.
- ‘Mahtari Gaurav Varsh’ dedicated to the contribution of women
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government has decided to observe the year 2026 as ‘Mahtari Gaurav Varsh’. This year is dedicated not only to honouring the contribution of the women of Chhattisgarh but also to creating new opportunities for them.
He said that the government is working on a broad scale, from girls’ education to women’s economic self-reliance. Girls’ education is being encouraged through the Saraswati Cycle Scheme. Under the ‘Meri Beti, Mera Abhiman’ initiative, approval has been given for the construction of 6 thousand 671 girls’ toilets in the state, so that daughters can have a better and more convenient environment in schools.
The Chief Minister said that 481 Mahtari Sadan buildings are being constructed across the state to provide women’s self-help groups with better spaces for training, meetings, and economic activities. During his recent visit to Jashpur, three Mahtari Sadans were also inaugurated. The Ready-to-Eat programme is also being operated through women’s self-help groups, creating new livelihood opportunities for women.
