As an important initiative towards the development and investment in the mineral sector in Chhattisgarh and effective utilization of critical mineral resources, the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, will organize a road show tomorrow, 31 August, at Mayfair Lake Resort in Nava Raipur on the 8th tranche of auction of critical and strategic mineral blocks. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will participate in the programme as the Chief Guest.
Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu, Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, CMD of CMDC Shri Saurabh Singh, Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh, senior officials of the Ministry of Mines, officials of the Central and State Governments, experts from the mining sector and representatives of the industry will participate in the road show.
The Government of India has put 20 mineral blocks up for auction under the 8th tranche of critical and strategic minerals. These include 3 mining leases and 17 composite licence blocks. These blocks include graphite, rare earth elements, rare metals, vanadium, gallium, titanium, molybdenum, tungsten and other important minerals. These minerals are extremely important from the perspective of the country’s energy security, modern technology, industrial development and strategic requirements.
- Inaugural Session to be Held in the Chief Minister’s Presence
As per the scheduled programme, the event will begin at 10:30 AM with registration and tea. At 12 noon, following the arrival of the Chief Guest and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, Vande Mataram and the National Anthem will be performed. Thereafter, the Secretary of the Mineral Resources Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh will deliver the welcome address. The Joint Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Government of India, will deliver the inaugural address at the event. This will be followed by addresses by the Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Government of India, the Chief Secretary, Government of Chhattisgarh, and the Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation. After the addresses by Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu and Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will deliver his address as the Chief Guest.
- Tin Portal and e-Ret Sangwari Portal to be launched
During the roadshow, several important initiatives will be undertaken to make the mineral sector in Chhattisgarh modern, transparent and technology-driven. The Tin Portal and e-Ret Sangwari Portal will be launched in the presence of Chief Minister as the Chief Guest.
On this occasion, an MoU between CMDC and Indian Overseas Bank, and an MoU with Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University for training in corundum cutting and polishing will also be exchanged. In addition, a book published on minor minerals will be released, and the process of issuing NITs for three limestone mining lease blocks is also proposed.
- Technical session to discuss auction process and investment opportunities
The technical session, scheduled from 2 PM, will include detailed discussions on various topics related to the auction of mineral blocks, investment and exploration. Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited will give a presentation on the mineral blocks proposed for auction. SBI Caps will provide information on the Mineral Auction Process and Tender Document, while MSTC will provide information on the Mineral E-Auction process. There will also be a presentation on the NMEDT scheme related to partial reimbursement of exploration expenditure for composite license holders.
After the technical session, an open house discussion will be held, in which the auction process, prospects of mineral resources and investment opportunities will be discussed with industry representatives, investors and experts.
- Review of operations of auctioned major mineral blocks to be conducted
A review meeting will be held in the afternoon after the roadshow. The meeting will review the operationalization of auctioned major mineral blocks and the progress of their operations. Discussions will also be held on expediting the commencement of mining projects and the coordination required at various levels. A mine visit is also proposed thereafter.
This roadshow will prove significant in giving new momentum to the exploration and mining of critical and strategic minerals in Chhattisgarh as well as across the country. Better coordination among the Central and State Governments, industry and other stakeholders in the mining sector will pave the way for investment and new opportunities in the mineral sector.
