- Gatherings Celebrating Nutrition and Joy Across 498 Centers
Under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Pledge Campaign) in Dhamtari district, the ‘Angan Milan Seva’ program is transforming Anganwadi centers into vibrant community hubs of joy, play, and nutritional awareness. Out of the district’s 1,164 Anganwadi centers, this special event has already been successfully conducted in 498 centers as of September 30. Launched on September 25, the campaign will continue until October 6, with the primary objective of fostering the holistic development of children and encouraging community participation.
- A Unique Blend of Nutrition, Health, and Culture
Through ‘Angan Milan Seva,’ women and children are being informed about health, hygiene, and various government welfare schemes. The programs feature exhibitions showcasing ‘My Nutritious Plate’ (Meri Paushtik Thali) and nutritious dishes, alongside healthy baby competitions, drawing contests, recreational games, and cultural performances. Captivating dance performances by young children have made the event truly special.
To boost women’s participation, Rangoli and Mehendi competitions are being organized for beneficiaries of the ‘Mahtari Vandan Yojana’ and ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.’ Additionally, traditional Chhattisgarhi games—such as Phugdi, tug-of-war, Matki Phod (pot-breaking), and musical chairs—have infused the women with renewed enthusiasm.
- Strengthening the Foundation of Nutrition through ‘Nyota Bhoj’ and ‘Ghar-Ghar Munga’

During the program, experts are raising awareness about the importance of a balanced diet and locally available nutritious foods. To strengthen community cooperation, ‘Nyota Bhoj’ (community feasts) are being organized to provide delicious and nutritious meals to Anganwadi children. Simultaneously, the ‘Ghar-Ghar Munga, Har Ghar Munga’ (Drumstick in every home) campaign is motivating families to include drumstick—a locally available and highly nutritious food—in their daily diet.
- A Community Celebration Born of Public Participation
The figures reflecting the immense public support for the campaign tell the story of its success. So far, 2,171 Anganwadi workers, helpers, and Mitanins have played an active role in the organized events. Over 6,543 children participated enthusiastically in various activities, while more than 4,379 women took an active part in competitions. Moreover, over 6,033 men stepped forward to support this initiative, transforming what began as a departmental program into a vibrant and spirited community celebration.
- ‘Donate Toys, Partner in a Child’s Holistic Development’
The Department of Women and Child Development has appealed to citizens, public representatives, and prominent members of society to contribute to the ‘Toy Bank.’ People can donate safe and usable toys—whether new or pre-owned—to their nearest Anganwadi center.
The department believes that toys are not merely a source of entertainment but powerful tools for fostering curiosity, creativity, and intellectual ability in children. Through this noble effort driven by public participation, Anganwadi centers are being enriched, thereby laying the foundation for a bright future for the children.
