Children of Chaitma gave the message of population stabilization through street play and human chain.

  • NSS and Eco Club volunteers of Swami Atmanand Excellence School organised a grand awareness rally.
  •  Villagers were made aware about family planning and maternal health.

To highlight the global concerns about the increasing population and its solutions, Population Stabilization Fortnight is being celebrated today on 11th July on the occasion of ‘World Population Day’, the main objective of which is to spread awareness in the community about the means of family planning, importance of small family and maternal and child health.

On the occasion of ‘World Population Day’, several inspiring public awareness programmes were organised at Swami Atmanand Utkrisht Vidyalaya, Chaitma in Korba district. Under the guidance of the Rashtriya Seva Yojana (RSY) cell of Atal Bihari Vajpayee University, Bilaspur, the school’s National Service Scheme (NSS) unit and Eco Club volunteers raised awareness across the area as part of the ‘Population Stabilisation Fortnight’.

  • Challenges of growing population depicted through painting

The program began with a large-scale painting competition held on the school campus. Students used their brushes to painstakingly depict the ill effects of population growth, such as poverty, unemployment, and the exploitation of natural resources, on chart paper. The children also conveyed beautiful messages about the benefits of small families and gender equality.

  • Street play resonated in Budhwari market, a huge human chain was formed

Following the painting competition, the volunteer students went to Budhwari Bazaar, the main commercial center of Gram Panchayat Chaitma. Here, the students staged a powerful street play. The play highlighted family planning methods, the importance of maternal health, and the need to dispel superstitions, drawing a large crowd of villagers. Students and teachers then formed a massive human chain at the market square, symbolizing solidarity and collective responsibility.

  • A grand awareness rally was organised with slogans.

With slogans like “Small Family – Happy Family” and “Control Population Growth, Make the Country Prosperous,” volunteers organized a massive public awareness rally on the main streets of Chaitma. Children holding placards at the rally successfully convinced villagers that population stabilization is not just the government’s responsibility, but every citizen’s human right and duty.

  • Awareness is the only solution

Addressing the students on this occasion, the school teachers and the NSS program officer said that the main purpose of celebrating this special day is not just to count the population, but to raise awareness among society about the serious issues associated with population growth, such as poverty, poor maternal health, and gender inequality. Until every citizen is aware, the dream of sustainable development in the country remains incomplete.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee University NSS Cell, Bilaspur and local public representatives have appreciated the Principal of Swami Atmanand Utkrisht Vidyalaya Chaitma, NSS team and volunteers of Eco Club for the successful organization of this dignified and purposeful program.
