When the health team arrived in Lohagaon, nestled among the hills and dense forests of Bailadila, the villagers were provided with comprehensive health checkups within the village for the first time. While reaching the health center is difficult, the health department team walked approximately 11 kilometers to reach the village and examined 62 villagers. During the examination, four serious patients, including a pregnant woman, were identified, who were immediately referred to a higher health institution for treatment.
The team, which arrived under the Chief Minister’s Swasth Bastar Abhiyan, conducted health check-ups for the elderly, women, and children in the village. Along with testing for malaria and sickle cell, potential cataract and leprosy patients were identified. Pregnant women were also given special check-ups and children were vaccinated. During the check-ups, the condition of one pregnant woman, one cataract patient, and two malaria-positive patients was found to be serious. Due to timely identification, all four were referred to the district hospital for further treatment.
Despite the difficult geographical conditions, the team reached the village and assured the villagers that healthcare isn’t limited to patients who come to the hospital. Where health centers are difficult to reach, health department teams are reaching out to people in person to diagnose illness and initiate treatment.
With a commitment to providing healthcare services to the last person, the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is emphasizing specialized health screenings in remote and hard-to-reach areas. Under the Chief Minister’s Swasth Bastar Abhiyan, health teams have reached villages across the district’s 76 health sites. Its goal is not only screening, but also timely identification of illness, necessary treatment, and referral of patients to higher health institutions if needed.
