Madhya Pradesh Police reached more than 8 lakh 30 thousand people through more than 1,300 awareness programs on the fourth day of Nashe Se Dastri Hai Mazhari 2.0

  • Jan Bhagidaari Se Jan Andolan Ban Raha Abhiyan, Statewide Rallies, Nukkad Nataks, Janchoupals, Health Camps and the message of de-addiction was conveyed through innovations.

The state-wide anti-drug public awareness campaign ‘Nashe Se Dastri Hai Mazhoori 2.0’ conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Police across the state is receiving wide and enthusiastic support from the public. On the fourth day of the campaign, the police further stepped up their public relations and awareness efforts and organized more than 1,300 awareness programs across the region. Through these programs more than 8 lakh 30 thousand citizens, students, youth, women and people of different classes were conveyed the message about the ill effects of drugs and they were given a resolution to adopt a drug free life.

Under the campaign, extensive public awareness programs were organized at hotspot areas, rural areas, educational institutions and public places across the region. In coordination with the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and the Department of Health, counseling and rehabilitation centers were given to drug addicts. At the same time, in schools and colleges, through short films, lectures, competitions, Janchoupal, Nukkad Natak, rallies, marathons, cyclothons, signature campaigns and through social media, the public was informed about the ill effects of drug addiction. 

District wise major organization

Indore Municipal played a leading role in the campaign reaching more than 4 lakh 39 thousand people in the state. A wide mass message was disseminated here through cyclothon, nukkad natak, public awareness program on Rajbara, more than 60 billboards across the city and key reels of popular social media influencers and celebrities.

Burhanpur reached out to more than 1 lakh 35 thousand people and conveyed the message of de-addiction to students through painting, rangoli, essay, street drama and rap dance competitions in schools.

More than 30 thousand people were sensitized through 172 programs in Balaghat, while Mandla organized 70 programs and effectively extended the campaign to rural and sensitive areas. GRP Bhopal sensitized more than 20 thousand 700 people by running a campaign among railway stations, passengers, porters and auto drivers.

By making effective use of technology in Baitul district, so far more than 50,000 citizens have demonstrated their commitment to the campaign by taking an oath to be free from drugs digitally through ‘Online Nasha Mukti Pledge’.

In Alirajpur, the police performed nukkad plays in tribal areas and weekly haat-bazaars and conveyed the message to the villagers in Nimadi and Bheeli dialects through awareness chariots.

In a program organized at Saraswati Higher Secondary School, Biloonji in Singrauli, around 1,600 students formed a huge human chain to convey the message of a drug-free society and spread an effective message of public awareness of the ‘Nashe Se Dastri Hai Mazhoori 2.0’ campaign. 

A de-addiction awareness seminar was organized at the Government Medical College in Ratlam with the participation of doctors and medical students, while in Rewa awareness programs were also conducted against pan-gutkha vendors around schools.

A special campaign was launched to stop the sale of tobacco products around schools in Khandwa and Barwani. In Dindori, the anti-drug message was disseminated through garbage collection vehicles, while in Rajgarh, village-to-village campaigns were carried out through campaign vehicles.

In Agar Malwa through village chaupalas and in Ashoknagar by going to identified hotspots and tribal settlements counseling the drug addicts and providing them information about treatment and rehabilitation.

An awareness program was organized in several educational institutes in Anuppur and the students and teachers were made aware of the ill effects of drugs and a collective oath was administered.

  • Active partnership of police training institutes and special armed forces units

Police training institutes and special police units are also playing a significant role in the campaign. Health screening camps were organized by specialist doctors at PTS Sagar and JNPA Sagar. New constables undergoing training at PTS Rewa and PTS Umaria gave an effective message through street plays. An essay competition was organized among the new guard trainees at MPPA Bhonri, while the GRP, various branches of the Special Armed Forces (SAF) and other training institutes strengthened the campaign through rallies, marathons, lectures, health camps and mass communication.

This campaign of Madhya Pradesh Police has now taken the form of a social mass movement based on public participation rather than just a government program. The police headquarters appealed to all the citizens of the region, public representatives, educational institutions, social and religious organizations and especially the youth to take an active part in this campaign, saying that with collective efforts, it is possible to create a drug-free, healthy, safe and crime-free Madhya Pradesh.
