This scheme brought new hope to Mrs. Padmani Yadav, a resident of Ward No. 11, Mahasamund Town, Mahasamund District. During her pregnancy, Mrs. Sheela Pradhan, an Anganwadi worker and Sector Supervisor of the Women and Child Development Department, informed her about the scheme. After registration, she received a financial assistance of ₹5,000 upon the birth of her first child. This amount was used to provide nutritious food, health checkups, and meet the essential needs of her child. Mrs. Padmani says that this support relieved her of financial worries during motherhood and gave her confidence to raise her child well.
Similarly, Mrs. Madhu Yadav of Ward No. 11 also received significant support from the scheme. Receiving a financial assistance of ₹5,000 for the birth of their first child and ₹6,000 for their daughter’s birth significantly helped them meet their maternal needs. Mrs. Madhu says the support provided by the scheme strengthened her family and allowed her to focus on their children’s health and nutrition. Today, both mothers are taking better care of their children and consider the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) a key driver of the positive change in their lives. She says this scheme is not just financial assistance, but a symbol of the government’s sensitive approach to motherhood and respect for women.
So far, 321 women beneficiaries in the Mahasamund urban area have benefited from the scheme, while over 27,000 women in the district have benefited from it. The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is proving to be an effective step towards strengthening maternal and child health, empowering women, and ensuring a better future for families. Mrs. Padmani and Mrs. Madhu, beneficiaries of the scheme, expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade and said that this assistance has brought a new light of happiness and confidence in their lives.
