- Deputy Chief Minister Shri Saw gave strict instructions in the review meeting, action will be taken against the officials if there is no progress in the work

A departmental review meeting was held today in the Collectorate’s Dankani Hall, chaired by Mr. Arun Saw, Deputy Chief Minister of the Chhattisgarh Government and Minister for Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Urban Administration and Development, and Sports and Youth Welfare. During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed in detail the progress of approved, ongoing, and proposed works in various departments. He directed officials to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe, ensure quality, and effectively disseminate the benefits of the schemes to the general public.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Saw began the meeting by reviewing the Public Works Department. He inquired about the progress of approved and under-construction roads, government buildings, and other infrastructure projects in the district. He directed to prevent unnecessary delays in construction work and ensure completion within the stipulated timeframe. He also called for special monitoring of the quality of construction work. He also reviewed the status of pending works and directed the concerned officials to take necessary action and initiate work. During
the review of the Public Health Engineering Department, the Deputy Chief Minister inquired about the progress of the “Har Ghar Jal” scheme. He stated that the true objective of the scheme will be achieved only when approved schemes ensure regular and clean drinking water supply to every eligible household. He directed for continuous monitoring of water supply schemes, prompt completion of incomplete works, and prioritization of drinking water supply in rural areas.
During the review of the Urban Administration and Development Department, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the lack of progress and slow pace of work. He issued strict instructions to officials to expedite the work and avoid negligence. The meeting thoroughly reviewed various schemes and programs related to urban bodies, including revenue collection, rainwater harvesting, the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He called for transparency and effective monitoring in the implementation of the schemes.
While reviewing the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Saw said that a fear-free and positive environment has now been created in the district. This favorable environment should be leveraged to engage children and youth in sports activities. He directed that children should develop an interest in sports from the primary school level and regularly participate in sports activities. He stated that the district has no shortage of sporting talent. There is a need to provide appropriate opportunities and guidance to talents from rural and remote areas. To achieve this, work should be done to promote sports activities in every village, enlisting the support of teachers, PTIs, coaches, and local public representatives. He also stressed the need to provide children with training and competition opportunities in various sports.
During the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao stated that in a high-level review meeting held to expedite development work in the district, ensure the quality of construction work, and effectively implement schemes, the Deputy Chief Minister issued clear instructions to officials and construction agencies, stating that no compromise on quality and timeliness would be tolerated. He directed officials to transform their work style and work culture and work towards results-oriented work.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao stated that all construction agencies, including the Public Works Department, should pay special attention to the quality of internal roads and other construction projects. It is the responsibility of the concerned officials to ensure completion of work within the stipulated timeframe. Any unnecessary delays will result in accountability and action against officials. He urged officials to focus on resolving problems instead of making excuses and to expedite work with prior planning. He clarified that the old pattern and a work culture based solely on records will no longer work. He directed officials of construction agencies to develop a methodology that holds contractors accountable for meeting set standards and quality. He also directed that all government offices and premises be kept clean, organized, and in the public interest.
It is worth noting that the meeting included a sequential presentation of budgeted roads, building deposit work, information on national highways, and the current status of ongoing works under the District Water and Sanitation Mission from the Public Works Department.
In compliance with the Deputy Chief Minister’s directives, Collector Mr. Devesh Kumar Dhruv directed district officials to develop department-wise action plans and ensure timely completion of projects. He directed officials to expedite the construction of pending houses under the Urban Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme and ensure their early completion. He also directed them to prioritize the completion of works related to the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Reviewing the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Collector directed the completion and transfer process of completed projects as per the regulations and the timely settlement of pending payments to contractors and related agencies. He asked to take necessary action to ensure effective implementation of the schemes by establishing better coordination with the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, formation of necessary steering committees and providing training to the concerned people.
Collector Mr. Dhruv said that after the rainy season ends, all approved construction works in the district should be expedited with priority in the next 8 to 9 months. Compliance with the instructions given by the Honorable Minister will be ensured, with special attention to quality, transparency, and time limits. He told the officials that the impact of the decisions taken in the review meetings should now be visible on the ground, and that each department should work with full seriousness and accountability towards its responsibilities. Present at the meeting were DFO Mr. Ramakrishna Ranganatha V, Additional Collector Mr. Rajesh Patre, along with senior divisional level officers, and officials from the district’s Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Urban Administration and Development, and Sports and Youth Welfare departments.
