In a significant initiative towards cleanliness, environmental protection, and sustainable development, the Tribal, Scheduled Caste, Backward Class and Minority Development Department today launched a new initiative for plastic waste management at the Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI) campus in Nava Raipur. The department has signed an agreement with Bisleri Company for the collection and recycling of plastic bottles and other plastic waste.
On this occasion, the Principal Secretary of the Department, “Mr. Sonmani Bora” and the Director of TRTI, “Mrs. Heena Animesh Netam” inaugurated the special plastic collection container installed in the campus. Principal Secretary Mr. Bora himself put an empty water bottle in the designated container and appealed to the officers, employees and visitors not to throw plastic waste here and there after use, but to put it in the designated container only. He said that “creating a clean and plastic-free campus is possible only with public participation” and that every small effort of every individual can make a big contribution towards environmental protection.
Under the agreement, the plastic waste collected in containers will be collected and disposed of by Bisleri Company. This plastic will be recycled to create various useful plastic products. It is noteworthy that the department will not incur any financial expenditure in this entire process. This initiative will not only promote the scientific management of plastic waste but will also send an effective message of awareness about environmental protection.
Principal Secretary Mr. Bora said that cleanliness should not just be a campaign, but should become a part of one’s lifestyle. If every individual resolves to properly dispose of plastic waste, a clean, beautiful, and environmentally friendly society can be easily created.
On this occasion, Joint Director of TRTI “Mrs. Gayatri Netam” along with officers and employees of the department were present.
