Swachh Bharat Diwas was celebrated at Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur under the Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan

The Legal Aid and Social Services Committee (LSSC) of Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur celebrated Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2 October 2026 under the Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan 2026 .

This year’s Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign (SHS-2026) is being jointly organised by the Department of Urban Development (DoUD), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS). The theme of the 2026 campaign is “Swachhata Me Sahyog, Swachh Bharat, Vikasit Bharat” which underlines the collective role and responsibility of every individual in realising the vision and resolve of a clean and developed India.

On this occasion, LSSC students organized a cleanliness drive around the girls’ hostel area and the HNLU academic block . The students collected various types of waste, including plastic. HNLU’s sanitation workers/didi’s also actively participated in the drive.

The objective of this cleanliness drive was to develop awareness and a sense of responsibility among the students towards maintaining a healthy and clean environment within the campus premises .

Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, Honorary Vice Chancellor, HNLU , in his address, said that such initiatives foster a sense of civic responsibility among young people , while also reinforcing the values ​​of cleanliness, accountability, and community participation among law students. He added that the event, held on October 2nd, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, holds special significance and reflects Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for a clean and progressive society and an empowered India.

Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Registrar-in-Charge, HNLU , said that the theme of “Participate in Cleanliness, Clean India, Developed India” underscores the role of every individual in the country. He said that every citizen, including law students, should understand their duties and contribute to building a clean and healthy society.

Dr. Kaumudi Challa, Convener, LSSC , expressed her gratitude to all participants. LSSC Student Conveners Vaibhavi Tekam and Luv Pratap Singh played a key role in making the event a success.

The program concluded with all participants gathering near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi . On this occasion, participants pledged to continue the campaign for a clean and developed India .
