- Three children got a new lease of life due to the initiative of Chirayu team
Under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (Chirayu), efforts being made towards regular health check-ups of children, early identification of diseases and providing them timely high-level treatment have brought new hope in the lives of three families. Due to the vigilance and promptness of Chirayu Team-B Magarlod of Dhamtari district, three children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) were identified in time and expert treatment was provided to them.
During a health check-up by the Chirayu Team-B Magarlod, Kerina Kanwar (15 years old), Kumkum Sahu (3 years old), and Yuvesh Kumar (9 years old) were found to have symptoms of possible congenital heart disease. Without delay, the team referred the children to a private hospital in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, for necessary testing and specialist treatment, ensuring necessary coordination and follow-up throughout the treatment process.
Specialist doctors conducted the necessary medical examinations and tests at the hospital. After the tests confirmed congenital heart problems, all three children were diagnosed with surgical intervention. Under the supervision of doctors, all three children underwent successful surgery. Following treatment, the children’s health improved significantly, and they are now under medical supervision. The Chirayu team is monitoring the children’s health and providing necessary follow-up after treatment.
The Chirayu team’s role throughout this process extends beyond simply diagnosing illness, but also transporting children to appropriate healthcare institutions, coordinating treatment, and monitoring their health status after treatment. This also highlights the importance of regular health checkups for children in rural and remote areas.
Congenital heart disease is often not evident in children in their early stages. Identifying potential symptoms during routine health checkups plays a crucial role in protecting children from serious complications. To this end, the Chirayu program is working to screen children for health and connect them with specialized medical services as needed.
The successful treatment of all three children is a source of relief and joy for their families. This success exemplifies the effective coordination of timely health screening, early identification, prompt referral, specialist treatment, and ongoing follow-up.
