- The future of drug addiction is dark
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel has said that this drug free and healthy youth force is possible with the collective efforts of police, administration, educational institutions, parents and society. He described the efforts made by the police to create Saharia, Bharia and Baiga battalions as a commendable step in the upliftment of the underprivileged society.
Governor Shri Patel was addressing a meet and greet program with awardee officers and employees of Police, Municipal Services and Citizen Security at Lok Bhavan on Sunday. In the program, the Governor introduced the officers and employees decorated with President’s Distinguished Service Police Medal, President’s Commendable Service Police Medal, Best Jeevan Raksha Medal and Commendable Service Medal. On this occasion, Principal Secretary to the Governor Dr. Navneet Mohan Kothari, Director General Jail Dr. Varun Kapoor, Deputy Secretary to Governor Shri Sunil Dubey were present.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that congratulations to all the personnel of the Pradesh Police who have brought honor to the Madhya Pradesh Police and the state with their excellent work, dedication and distinguished services. He extended his hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the officers and employees who received the medals on Independence Day and being honored by the President. The Governor said that the medal decorated on the uniform is not only a symbol of honor, but a glorious story of the service era, in which the policemen faced many difficult situations and challenges with courage and devotion. This honor is a recognition of the countless moments when he made his duty the highest priority. He said that it is gratifying that the Madhya Pradesh Police is constantly changing and innovating in its working style to meet the changing challenges. He said that today crime has gone beyond geographical boundaries and has reached digital media. Challenges like cyber fraud, digital fraud, social media related crimes and online exploitation demand new vigilance. He appreciated the Madhya Pradesh Police’s ‘Safe Click 2.0’ campaign to create awareness among citizens, especially the youth, about prevention of cyber crimes, safe digital transactions and online caution. The Governor also lauded the efforts to connect various sections of the society with policing through campaigns like Srijan, Women and Child Safety, Cyber Awareness and Narsha Mukti. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva For Evankar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ is a motivational initiative in the direction of creating healthy, conscious and empowered youth. Keeping youth away from drugs and crime is strengthening the foundation of a safe future. The Governor said that along with the achievement, the medal also symbolizes the rising expectations and future responsibilities of the society. The conduct and work style of the medal winners should be exemplary for the upcoming policemen. He expressed confidence that all the recipients of the medal will continue to contribute in taking the Madhya Pradesh Police to new heights with their experience, vigilance and service spirit.
- Awareness and public participation essential for a drug-free society: Governor
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that drug addiction not only affects the health and life of the individual, but darkens the happiness and future of the entire family. Drug addiction exacerbates the economic and social crisis especially for poor families. He said that the onset of addiction is often at a young age, so efforts against drug addiction must also be started from childhood. It is the collective responsibility of society to make children and youth aware of the ill effects of drugs and motivate them to lead a healthy and positive lifestyle. He said that one crore families joined it on the first day of Nasha Mukti Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, which shows the massive power of public participation and awareness against drug addiction. He said that awareness programs should be organized every Sunday with dedication to make this two-year campaign a mass movement. The Governor said that if 10 crore people succeed in de-addiction, then through their families and social influence, an important step can be taken in the direction of de-addiction of about 50 crore population.
Special Director General of Police Mr. Pankaj Srivastava highlighted the organization of the program. He said that two-tiered efforts are being made by the police to control crime. Strict legal action is being taken against the culprits and awareness is being spread in the society. He said that the first wall of cyber security is to be aware of the society. A recruitment drive is underway to address the shortage of force in the police department. The selection process for more than 14 thousand police posts has been completed. Recently, more than 9 thousand new posts have been approved for recruitment. It has been announced to set up a new police battalion in Khandwa. Along with this, three new State Industrial Security Force battalions will also be created. Madhya Pradesh Police is committed to introduce modern security model in Simhastha – 2028. Additional Director General of Police Special Armed Forces Shri Chanchal Shekhar gave vote of thanks in the program.
