- New Greenfield Corridors and Four Lane Roads Will Give New Speed to Region’s Connectivity: Minister Shri Singh
Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh has said that Chief Minister Dr. Under the leadership of Mohan Yadav, several important projects are being worked on simultaneously to widen and strengthen road connectivity in Madhya Pradesh. The major cities of the region are being connected to major economic , industrial and religious centers of the country through new greenfield corridors , four-lane roads and ring roads. Its aim is to create new opportunities for trade , industry , investment and employment along with improved mobility .
Minister Shri Singh said that preparations have been started to develop connectivity from Varanasi to Nagpur in the first phase of Varanasi-Visakhapatnam corridor. Under this, a road will be constructed from Jabalpur-Rewa in Madhya Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh border and to Nagpur in the south. This will provide better road connectivity to large parts of Madhya Pradesh including Mahakaushal and Vindhyas to Uttar Pradesh and further to Maharashtra.
The proposed Ashoknagar-Sagar-Jabalpur-Nagpur four-lane route and Sagar-Kota greenfield corridor will strengthen connectivity in the direction of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Sagar-Kota Corridor is included in the action plan of NHAI .
The Jabalpur-Bhopal-Indore Greenfield Corridor scheme is also important to connect the major financial centers of Madhya Pradesh. Jabalpur to Bhopal route is proposed to be developed by MPRDC and Bhopal to Indore route by NHAI . Its completion will connect the three major cities of the region with a fast and robust network and provide better connectivity to Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor DMIC via Indore-Ujjain.
In the same order, Khandwa (Ashapur)- Narmadapuram-Jabalpur-Rewa/Satna corridor is also being prepared. This route will further strengthen connectivity in the direction of Western Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Minister Shri Singh said that these projects are not being developed as separate road works , but as a comprehensive connectivity network of Madhya Pradesh. The ring road and connecting corridors from different directions can become the basis for development of logistics parks , warehousing , cold storage , transport terminals , agro-processing centers and industrial clusters in future.
He said that good roads not only make travel easier , but also pave the way for industry , trade , investment and employment. This drive to connect the various regions of Madhya Pradesh with the National Road Network will play an important role in boosting the economy of the region and strengthening the goal of a developed Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation under Public Works Department is taking responsibility for construction of many important roads. This will strengthen the institutional capacity for road infrastructure development in the region and also speed up the State’s own connectivity projects with the National Highway Network.
