As part of the “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” program, a tree plantation and plastic-free cleanliness drive was organized at the Jatmai Mata Temple complex on Saturday. Organized by the Gariaband Forest Division, the program was attended by Rajim MLA Mr. Rohit Sahu, Collector Mr. Ranbir Sharma, District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mr. Prakhar Chandrakar, and Divisional Forest Officer Mr. Mayank Pandey, along with public representatives and citizens. Guests planted trees to promote environmental protection and cleaned various parts of the temple complex with brooms in their hands. They collected garbage and pledged to keep religious and tourist sites clean and plastic-free. During the program, MLA Mr. Rohit Sahu planted a Rudraksh tree, while Collector Mr. Ranbir Sharma planted a banyan tree. Other guests also planted trees to promote the promotion of a green environment and the conservation of natural resources. Following the plantation, public representatives, officials, and citizens cleaned various parts of the temple complex with brooms in their hands. During the event, garbage was collected and people were encouraged to maintain cleanliness. The campaign highlighted the importance of tree plantation, water conservation, biodiversity protection, and environmental protection. During the program, guests visited the JataMai Mata Temple and prayed for the district’s prosperity and well-being. District Panchayat Chairperson Mrs. Shivangi Chaturvedi, District Panchayat President Mrs. Meera Thakur, other public representatives, and a large number of citizens were present on the occasion.

Rajim MLA Mr. Rohit Sahu said that with the aim of realizing the resolve for a developed India, the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is being run from September 17th to October 17th. Under this initiative, various departments are organizing programs related to public awareness and public participation. In this context, a tree plantation and cleanliness drive was organized at Jatmai Dham. He stated that the government’s goal is to provide a clean environment to the people, but achieving this objective requires the participation of every individual in society. Keeping religious and tourist sites clean is everyone’s responsibility. People should pay attention to the cleanliness of their homes as well as surrounding public places. MLA Mr. Sahu appealed to people not to use single-use plastic and polythene and to dispose of garbage in designated areas instead of throwing it around. He said that cleanliness must be incorporated into our habits, and it is important to educate children about it. Referring to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s call for cleanliness, he said that every citizen should contribute to building a clean India. Only through public participation can the resolution of cleanliness be realised and progress can be made towards a developed India.

Collector Mr. Ranbir Sharma stated that the Jatmai Mata Temple is an important religious site surrounded by natural beauty. A large number of devotees and tourists visit here. Therefore, it is essential to keep the temple complex and surrounding forest area clean and plastic-free. He stated that plastic poses a serious environmental challenge. Its long-term non-degradability and its ability to reach the environment and food in the form of small particles is a matter of concern. He stated that a collective initiative should be taken to make Jatmai Dham a “no-plastic zone.” Discarding gutkha pouches, plastic packets, and single-use plastic after use hampers the beauty of the complex and harms the environment. Everyone must take responsibility to avoid this. The Collector stated that cleanliness fosters a positive and sacred environment. It is everyone’s responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of natural and religious sites like Jatmai. He urged citizens to properly dispose of waste, reduce plastic use, and actively participate in the commitment to a developed India by 2047. Divisional Forest Officer Mr. Mayank Pandey also appealed to the public not to use plastic and to keep religious sites and forest areas clean. He emphasized the importance of citizens’ participation in environmental protection.

Organized as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, this program combined religious faith with a message of environmental protection and civic responsibility. Through tree planting and collective labor, people were inspired to keep their surroundings clean, properly dispose of plastic waste, and contribute to the protection of natural heritage. In keeping with the spirit of “Service is My Contribution,” this initiative brought the message of public participation in the creation of a clean, green, and environmentally friendly JataMai Dham.
