‘Lakhpati Didi’ campaign gains new momentum in Jashpur

  • Over 18,000 women have become self-reliant, strengthening the village economy.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, effective initiatives are being taken to economically empower women in Chhattisgarh. In this regard, the “Lakhpati Didi” campaign has achieved remarkable success in Jashpur district, where more than 18,000 women have become Lakhpati Didis, setting a new example of self-reliance.

The women of Jashpur, blessed with natural beauty, are now strengthening the economic condition of not only their families but the entire village through farming, animal husbandry, food processing, handicrafts and small enterprises. Krishi Sakhis and Pashu Sakhis active in every village are strengthening the rural economy by providing information about modern technology and advanced agricultural practices to the farmers. Currently, 12,808 self-help groups are active in the district, with 1,37,912 women associated with them. Through collective efforts, these women are continuously moving forward towards self-reliance.

The state government has set a target of preparing 30,877 “Lakhpati Didis” in Jashpur district from 2024 to 2027. Of these, 18,218 women have already become millionaires, while continuous efforts are being made to bring the remaining women into this category in the coming years.

Extensive support is being provided to women to connect them with livelihoods through the “Bihan” scheme. Approximately ₹14 crore (approximately ₹140 million) in Mudra loans, ₹760 million (approximately ₹130 million) in bank linkages, and ₹130 million (approximately ₹130 million) in community investment funds. Initiatives are also underway to connect approximately 70,000 women with agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and horticulture activities.

Additionally, approximately 8,500 potential Lakhpati Didis have been trained in various livelihood activities and are being monitored to ensure continued income growth. Women are increasing their incomes through businesses such as dairy, goat rearing, poultry, and food processing.

It is noteworthy that the “Krishi Kranti Expo 2.0” is being organized at the College of Agriculture, Kunkuri, from March 23-25, 2026, with the aim of connecting women with new technologies and innovations, opening doors to new opportunities for women. This initiative in Jashpur demonstrates that when women are empowered, progress is ensured for the family, the village, and the entire state.
