Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the welfare of the state’s farmers is our commitment. Our government is with farmers at all times. Wheat procurement will begin in the state at the scheduled minimum support price. Wheat will be purchased from all farmers who have registered on the procurement portal. In the procurement process, wheat from small farmers will be purchased first, followed by wheat from medium and large farmers. Wheat from all farmers with slot bookings will be purchased in a phased manner. The Chief Minister stated that there is no shortage of gunny bags in the state. The government is making all arrangements. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing a meeting with members of the government-formed group of ministers and farmer representatives regarding wheat procurement at Samatva Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence, on Sunday.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that the state government is particularly sensitive to protecting the interests of farmers. Every effort is being made to ensure the continued availability of gunny bags for wheat procurement. Farmers will not face any gunny bag problems during wheat procurement in the state. The state government is in constant contact with the central government, the Jute Commissioner, and other gunny bag supply agencies for gunny bag supplies.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the wheat procurement system should be made simple, easy, and convenient. Farmers should not face any difficulties in reaching procurement centers and selling wheat. The Chief Minister directed senior officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department to establish a state-level control room and also in agricultural produce markets to regularly monitor the procurement system.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in view of wheat procurement, all weighing centers in the state should be thoroughly inspected before April 10th, so that farmers do not have any kind of doubt. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that systematic improvements should be made in the current structure of all agricultural produce markets in the state. All markets should be upgraded according to global requirements and prepared like world class markets.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that all basic amenities, such as electricity, drinking water, seating, shade, toilets, and parking, should be made available to farmers visiting wheat procurement centers. No one should face any procedural or systemic inconvenience. Arrangements should be made to avoid long queues of farmers/tractor-trolleys at any center, and to ensure that all farmers’ wheat is weighed easily. Arrangements should also be made to ensure that payments are made to the accounts of farmers from whom wheat is purchased within the shortest possible time.
- Wheat procurement will start from April 10.
Additional Chief Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies, informed that the state government has completed all preparations for the purchase of wheat at the minimum support price in the state. Wheat procurement at the minimum support price will begin in Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram divisions from April 10th, and in all other divisions from April 15th. He informed that slot booking for registered farmers will begin on Tuesday, April 7th, for those divisions where wheat procurement is scheduled to begin on April 10th. Wheat procurement at the minimum support price will begin on Friday, April 10th. He informed that 19,464,644 farmers in the state have registered for wheat procurement in the 2026-27 procurement year. A total of 3,627 procurement centers have been set up in the state this year for wheat procurement. In the last procurement year 2025-26, 15,44,055 farmers registered for wheat procurement. He stated that the minimum support price for wheat for this procurement year has been set at ₹2,625 per quintal. The state government is also providing farmers with a bonus of ₹40 per quintal in addition to the minimum support price.
The Additional Chief Secretary stated that the state is expected to procure 7.8 million metric tons of wheat. This will require 312,000 bundles of gunny bags. The state has sufficient stock of gunny bags to begin wheat procurement. The central government has also set a limit. The state government is receiving all necessary support from the central government. Bag material is also being procured from the Jute Commissioner’s office and other gunny bag suppliers. Additionally, the process of purchasing additional gunny bags is progressing rapidly, as directed by the Cabinet Committee on Wheat Procurement.
Revenue Minister Mr. Karan Singh Verma, Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Mr. Edal Singh Kansana, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Mr. Govind Singh Rajput, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Mr. Lakhan Patel, State President and senior MLA Mr. Hemant Khandelwal, along with farmer representatives and Food, Cooperation and other departmental officers were also present in the meeting.
