- Under the ‘PM-Jagua Scheme’, electricity reached the homes of 27 families, creating an atmosphere of excitement among the villagers.
Through the joint efforts of the district administration and the Electricity Department, Katema village in the forest area of Khairagarh district has achieved a historic milestone in development. Under the PM-Jagua Yojana, this remote forest village has been connected to the main power grid for the first time since independence. As the first electric bulb lit up in the homes of 27 families who had been living with lanterns and torches for years, the entire village erupted in joy and excitement. For the villagers, this moment was nothing short of a celebration.

As part of this significant electrification project, the Electricity Department extended approximately 12 kilometers of 11 kV power lines and approximately 1 kilometer of low-tension (LT) lines in the remote forest area. A new 63 kVA transformer was also installed to meet the villagers’ electricity needs.
This work was completed under the special guidance and instructions of Collector Mr. Indrajit Chandrawal and Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Distribution Company, Mr. Bhim Singh Kanwar. The project was successfully implemented under the leadership of Executive Director Mr. Shalet and Superintending Engineer Mr. Kanwar. The continuous monitoring and active supervision of Mr. Alok Dubey, Executive Engineer of Khairagarh Division, in particular, ensured the work was completed in a timely and quality manner, overcoming technical challenges despite the difficult geographical conditions of the forest area.

With the availability of electricity, Katema village will now see positive changes in the education, health, and security systems. Children will have a better environment for studies, and villagers will be facilitated in their nighttime activities. The village beneficiaries have expressed their gratitude to the entire team of the district administration and electricity department for this important gift.
