- Pledge to lead a drug-free life, message of public awareness given through folk songs and street plays
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, an awareness and pledge program was organized on the occasion of International No Smoking Day in the village panchayat of Bokhi in Jashpur district as part of the Drug Free India Campaign. The program aimed to educate youth, women, and villagers about the ill effects of drug abuse and motivate them to lead a healthy and positive lifestyle.
Public representatives, officials, employees, students, and villagers actively participated in the program. Those present were informed about the physical, mental, and social adverse effects of tobacco and other drug abuse.

All participants were also sworn in to lead a drug-free life and make society drug-free.
During the program, the message of staying away from drugs was conveyed through de-addiction slogans and public awareness activities. The Jashpur Folk Music Academy highlighted the importance of a drug-free lifestyle through impressive performances of folk songs, Nagpuri dance, and street plays. The cultural programs not only provided entertainment to the audience but also effectively conveyed social messages.
On this occasion, youth, women, and students pledged to abstain from tobacco and other intoxicants and to make their families and society drug-free. Participants were also informed about the prohibition of smoking in public places and the legal provisions regarding the sale and use of tobacco products.
The Social Welfare Department and the Health Department played a key role in the successful organization of the program.

Department officials, including Deputy Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Dharmendra Kumar Sahu, highlighted the campaign’s objectives and emphasized the importance of public participation in building a drug-free society. They appealed to all citizens to adopt a healthy, aware, and responsible lifestyle.
This event spread a positive message of drug de-addiction, health protection, and social awareness among the rural community, marking an important step towards building a drug-free and healthy society.
