Students received guidance for building their future in the career counselling programme.

The district administration organized a district-level career counseling program for students who passed the 10th and 12th grades on Monday at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium in Transport Nagar, Korba. The program was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by Mr. Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Minister of Commerce, Industry, Labor, Excise, and Public Enterprises, Government of Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, Katghora MLA Mr. Premchand Patel, District Panchayat Chairman Dr. Pawan Singh, Chairman Mr. Nutan Singh Thakur, Collector Mr. Kunal Dudawat, Superintendent of Police Mr. Siddharth Tiwari, Divisional Forest Officer Katghora Mr. Kumar Nishant, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. Ashutosh Pandey, OSD Mr. Tarun Kumar Kiran, District Panchayat CEO Mr. Dinesh Nag, along with other public representatives and departmental officials, guided the students. The program’s objective was to provide appropriate guidance to students who passed the 10th and 12th grades for their future by providing information on subject selection, higher education, competitive exams, employment, and various self-employment opportunities.

Addressing the students, Cabinet Minister Shri Dewangan stated that in contemporary times, the importance of skill development and proper career guidance has increased alongside education. He stated that every student possesses immense potential; the need is to recognize them and move forward in the right direction. He urged students to set goals in accordance with their interests and abilities and move forward with confidence and discipline. Minister Shri Dewangan stated that the state government is continuously striving to provide quality education, skill training, and better employment opportunities to the youth. During the event, the chief guest also released a guidebook, which provides detailed information on how state-level and national-level examinations are conducted and the selection process. These books have been made available to all school principals, and they have been directed to organize school-level career counseling sessions to educate all students about the topics covered in the books. At the event, Katghora MLA Shri Patel guided students on better career choices and encouraged them to set goals and work hard. 

Over 600 students and their parents from all high schools in Korba district who had passed the 10th grade attended the program’s first session. During the inaugural session, Collector Mr. Dudawat interacted with the students, encouraging them to clearly set their goals and achieve success through persistent hard work. 

In the second session of the program, 450 students from Class 12 participated. Collector Mr. Dudawat and Superintendent of Police Mr. Tiwari A guided the Class 12 students, providing important information on their do’s and don’ts. The Collector visited the students to gather information about their needs and
assured them that no student from Korba district will face financial difficulties in completing their studies anywhere in the country.

Students also asked numerous questions to officials, primarily related to commerce, mathematics, and science. Officials and experts from various departments provided detailed information about the opportunities available in their respective fields. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. Pandey described the Korba environment through a story and provided detailed information on the advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones. He also provided information on the facilities available for competitive exam preparation. 

CEO Mr. Nag informed the children about opportunities for advancement. Mr. Hemant Jaiswal, District Information and Science Officer, provided information on the field of Information Technology (IT) and how to utilize time effectively through mobile phones. Mr. Vishal Rajput, District Hospital Korba, provided guidance on the possibilities of advancement in the medical field, its branches, and preparation. Similarly, Mr. Deepesh Bharti, District Employment Officer, provided guidance on various employment opportunities. Mr. Rajiv Lilhare, Manager (Technical), CEPT Korba, provided information on the use of plastic and various technologies. Mr. Devendra Kanwar, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department, Korba, provided information on employment-oriented activities such as agricultural science, fertilizer production, fisheries, agricultural work, and beekeeping. 

Mr. M.M. Joshi, Government College, Katghora, highlighted the importance of the Arts Faculty, stating that Arts students are no less than anyone else, and that self-confidence leads to success. Mrs. Upasana Pathak, Lecturer, Government High School, Ajgarbahar, highlighted the possibilities of progress through computer education. Ms. Taskeen, DIO, NIC, provided information about courses and examinations such as M.Sc., M.C.A., M.Tech., SET, etc., through which opportunities can be obtained in IT companies and other fields and skills can be developed.

Education department officials and employees actively participated in the program, ensuring its success. District Education Officer Mr. Tamreshwar Upadhyay presented mementos to all guests and officials. A total of 1,047 students and 200 parents attended both sessions. The enthusiastic attendance of students and the helpful guidance of experts ensured the program was a great success and meaningful.
