 Village Puri becomes an example of livestock development through artificial insemination

  • Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam visited the Advanced Vats Exhibition and appreciated the departmental innovations.

During his visit to Dhamtari district today, Chhattisgarh Government’s Minister for Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare, Biotechnology, Fisheries, and Livestock Development, Shri Ramvichar Netam inspected various schemes and activities run by the Livestock Development Department. Under the guidance of Collector Shri Abinash Mishra, the Livestock Development Department organized an exhibition of advanced calves at the Veterinary Institute, Main Village Unit, located in Puri village, under the Main Village Scheme of Dhamtari Block. Minister Shri Netam fed green fodder to the cows. 

The exhibition showcased 42 advanced calves (F-1 to F-3 generations) produced through artificial insemination. Minister Shri Netam inspected these advanced breed calves and praised the department’s scientific and innovative efforts. He stated that improving the quality of livestock through modern technology and increasing milk production is an important step towards increasing the income of farmers and livestock farmers.
   The event was graced by the presence of Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi and Director of Livestock Development Department Shri Chandrakant Verma. The guests visited the exhibition, interacted with livestock farmers, and learned about the effective implementation of departmental schemes.
Village Sarpanch, Mrs. Kunti Devdas, and Milk Cooperative Society Chairman, Mr. Chironjilal Sahu, reported that through 100% artificial insemination, almost every family in Puri village has become involved in dairy activities. Currently, the village’s milk collection center is collecting over 500 liters of milk daily, significantly increasing the villagers’ income. Puri village is now emerging as an inspiring model of scientific animal husbandry and dairy development.

During the program, Minister Mr. Netam honored the village shepherds who provided crucial support in the form of information systems for artificial insemination by presenting them with towels and coconuts. He stated that effective implementation of government schemes is possible only with the active participation of villagers.
   On this occasion, Minister Mr. Netam also demonstrated a spray drone for spraying pesticides in the fields, worshipping it to promote modern technology in agriculture. The farmers present were made aware of the usefulness of carrying out agricultural work in less time, at lower cost and with greater efficiency through drone technology.

Minister Shri Netam, while praising the schemes run by the Animal Husbandry Department in the district, artificial insemination program, breed improvement, dairy development and innovation-based activities, said that the effective implementation of departmental works in Dhamtari district is a source of inspiration for other districts as well.
   In the program, Deputy Director of Livestock Development Department Dr. A.K. Markam, Additional Deputy Director Dr. T.R. Verma and Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Dr. Pramod Kumar Thakur gave detailed information about the various schemes and achievements of the department. Assistant Veterinary Field Officers working under the Main Village Scheme Dhamtari provided active cooperation in the successful organization of the exhibition. A large number of advanced livestock farmers, farmers and villagers participated in the program.

 This event emerged as a remarkable achievement of Dhamtari district towards livestock development, scientific animal husbandry, use of modern agricultural techniques and strengthening the rural economy.
