- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the campaign “Drug-Free Youth for Developed India”
- Youth urged to stay away from drugs and participate in building a developed India
Recently, a district-level program was organized at the Government E.V.P.G. College, Korba, under the “Drug-Free Youth for Developed India” pledge campaign. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s inaugural address was broadcast live during the program. The Prime Minister called upon Gen-G youth across the country to pledge to stay away from drugs and play an active role in building a developed India. He highlighted the ill effects of drugs and appealed to the youth to become healthy, aware, and responsible citizens.
The chief guest of the program, Mr. Lakhanlal Dewangan, Minister of Commerce, Industry, Commercial Tax (Excise), and Labor of the Chhattisgarh Government, said that drug addiction erodes life. Addiction poses a major obstacle to a person’s progress. It not only impacts a person’s future but also puts their family in jeopardy. He said that youth should stay away from drugs and play their role in nation-building with determination, discipline, and positive thinking.
Minister Shri Dewangan stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream is to build a developed India by 2047, and that youth play a crucial role in achieving this. He urged young people to stay away from drugs themselves, as well as to raise awareness among their families, friends, and those around them about the ill effects of drug abuse. He urged students to study diligently and set high goals for their lives. He also assured them of resolving college-related issues.
Mayor Sanju Devi Rajput, the special guest of the program, said that families are falling apart and crimes are increasing due to drug addiction. Therefore, youth should stay away from drugs and ensure their active participation in realizing the Prime Minister’s pledge of a developed India by 2047. On this occasion, all the youth present were also made to pledge to live a drug-free life.
Nodal officer Mr. Satish Prakash Singh provided information about the Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India pledge campaign. Guests were welcomed by presenting them with saplings.
On this occasion, District Panchayat Chairman Dr. Pawan Singh Kanwar, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Mr. Nutan Singh Thakur, District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mr. Prateek Jain, Councilor Mr. Narendra Dewangan, College Principal in-charge Dr. B.L. Sai, professors, public representatives, NSS volunteers and a large number of students were present.
- Say no to drugs, yes to life: Collector Kunal Dudawat
Addressing the program, Collector Mr. Kunal Dudawat said that it is society’s collective responsibility to free those caught in the grip of drug addiction. No one starts taking drugs from childhood; rather, they gradually fall into its grip due to bad company and circumstances, and then become addicted. Sharing his experiences during his studies, he said that a commitment to abstain from drugs early on leads one in the right direction. Therefore, no matter how much pressure seniors exert, one must stay away from it. He said that drug addiction is the biggest enemy of mental, intellectual, and physical development. Its ill effects are not visible initially, but over time, they have a serious impact on both the body and life. He told the youth that just as we protect our new mobile phones or cars from scratches, we should also protect our bodies, because a healthy body is life’s greatest asset. Therefore, say “no” to drugs and “yes” to life.
Collector Mr. Dudawat, while giving information about the My Bharat for Youth campaign, said that the target has been set to connect approximately 58 thousand youth in the district with this campaign, out of which more than 32 thousand youth have joined so far. He informed that awareness programs are being organized every week in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and various social organizations to keep the new generation away from drugs. Through the campaign, youth are also being provided opportunities for internships, leadership development, and participation in various national activities and study tours.
