Compassionate initiative by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai bolsters Pooja’s dream of becoming a doctor

  • Pooja overcomes financial hardship and a 66% disability to succeed in NEET
  • Secures admission to Medical College Jagdalpur; financial aid of ₹2.50 lakh sanctioned from the DMF fund for her studies
  • Daughter of a laborer mother prepares for NEET at home for four years; refuses to give up despite challenging circumstances

Financial constraints and adverse circumstances cannot stand in the way of talent, hard work, and determination. Kumari Pooja Singh, a tribal girl from Surguja district, has proven this through her struggle and perseverance. Despite coming from an economically disadvantaged family and living with a 66% disability, Pooja succeeded in NEET-2026 and secured admission to Medical College Jagdalpur. To ensure her dream of becoming a doctor was not derailed by financial hardship, Collector Shri Ajit Vasant—acting on the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai—sanctioned financial assistance of ₹2.50 lakh from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) fund to cover her tuition fees.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s compassionate initiative has paved the way for Pooja’s medical education. It is the state government’s intent that the higher education of talented yet economically disadvantaged students should not be hindered by financial constraints. Recognizing her family’s circumstances and her achievement, the district administration has provided her with the necessary financial support.

Collector Shri Ajit Vasant praised Pooja’s success and extended his best wishes for her bright future. He remarked that the dedication, self-confidence, and hard work Pooja demonstrated to succeed in NEET, despite difficult circumstances, serve as an inspiration to other students.

  • Hard work of a laborer mother and the daughter’s determination pave the path to success

Kumari Pooja Singh is a resident of Radhapur village in the Sitapur development block. Her family is economically disadvantaged. Pooja’s father, Shri Chakradhar Singh, lives with his second wife following his remarriage. In these circumstances, the responsibility of supporting the family and funding her daughter’s education fell upon her mother’s shoulders.

Pooja’s mother does not own any agricultural land. To meet the family’s needs, she works as a laborer in the fields of others in the village. Despite limited income and resources, she spared no effort to ensure her daughter’s education continued. The mother’s hard work and the daughter’s determination combined to propel Pooja’s dream forward.

  • Schooling at a government school and four years of NEET preparation at home

Pooja completed her primary and middle school education in the village of Radhapur. Subsequently, she completed her high school and higher secondary education at the Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Sitapur. She passed her Class 12 examinations in 2022.

The family’s financial situation did not allow for moving to a big city to attend expensive coaching classes for competitive exams. Despite this, Pooja did not compromise on her goal. From 2022 to 2026, she prepared for the NEET exam at home for four consecutive years. Even while facing a 66% disability and financial hardships, she did not let her resolve to become a doctor waver.

  • Four years of hard work pay off; admission secured at Medical College, Jagdalpur

The results of Pooja’s persistent hard work and self-confidence bore fruit in 2026. She succeeded in the NEET exam and secured admission to the Medical College in Jagdalpur through the counseling process. For the daughter of a laborer mother to reach medical college despite limited resources is a proud achievement not only for her family but for the entire Sarguja district.

Pooja’s success conveys the message that difficult circumstances are not permanent obstacles on the path to one’s goal. If one’s resolve is strong and hard work is consistent, big dreams can be realized even with limited resources. Financial assistance provided through the compassionate initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has now ensured that Pooja’s medical education will not be hindered by financial constraints.

The mother’s hard work, the daughter’s struggle, and the government’s support—the synergy of these three factors has given new wings to Pooja’s dream of becoming a doctor. Pooja’s success serves as an inspiration for students across the state—including those from Surguja—who, despite limited resources, set ambitious goals and strive continuously to achieve them.
