State Foundation Day is a celebration of the wonderful journey of development: Governor Shri Patel

  • Governor and Chief Minister attended the joint foundation day celebrations of Gujarat and Maharashtra;
  • presentations based on glorious folk culture and traditions were made.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that May 1st commemorates the administrative formation of Gujarat and Maharashtra, two of the country’s most prosperous and powerful states. It is a celebration of their remarkable journeys of development. He said that India’s geographical and cultural diversity is our greatest strength, and unity among them is the foundation of a strong, prosperous, and self-reliant India. Maharashtra’s industrial capacity and financial leadership, along with Gujarat’s entrepreneurship, business acumen, maritime development, and renewable energy, are strong foundations for a developed India.

Governor Shri Patel was addressing the joint foundation day celebrations of Gujarat and Maharashtra on Friday. On this occasion, he extended State Foundation Day greetings to the residents of both states. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was also present at the ceremony. The program was organized under the concept of “Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat” in the Sandipani Auditorium of Lok Bhavan.

Governor Shri Patel called upon citizens, especially the youth, to recognize the incomparable strength of our diversity and   to work unanimously and unitedly for a developed India @ 2047. He also pledged to actively participate in realizing the vision of ” One India, Best India ” and to contribute to the nation’s new construction.

Governor Shri Patel said that Gujarat is home to sacred pilgrimage sites such as Lord Krishna’s Dwarka city and the world-famous Somnath Temple. Gujarat’s cultural identity is reflected in its festivals, especially the worship of Goddess Adi Shakti during Navratri, Garba, and Dandiya, which are renowned worldwide. The Rann of Kutch, the Gir forests, the banks of the Sabarmati River, the blessings of Mother Narmada River, and the Statue of Unity add a unique touch to the state’s diversity. Sons of the soil like Mahatma Gandhi, the saint of Sabarmati, and Sardar Patel, the Iron Man, have created a unique identity for India globally.

  •  Gujaratis lead the country in entrepreneurship and innovation

Governor Shri Patel said that the people of Gujarat are deeply committed to their vitality, innovation, business acumen, discipline, and cultural values. Through hard work and entrepreneurship, they contribute to the nation’s economic and social progress. Economically prosperous Gujarat leads the nation with innovations in industry, trade, port development, and entrepreneurship. Today, the state of Gujarat   is playing a key role in the ” Make in India” and “Startup India” campaigns. 

  • Pilgrimage sites in Maharashtra  are symbols of rich mythological and cultural heritage

Governor Shri Patel said that hard work, discipline, harmony, cultural pride, entrepreneurship, and patriotism are the hallmarks of Maharashtrians. These individuals, balancing tradition and modernity, contribute significantly to the nation’s progress. The uninterrupted flow of Mother Godavari, the grandeur of the Sahyadris, the Ajanta-Ellora caves, the Trimbak-Keshav Jyotirlinga, and the Shirdi-Pandharpur pilgrimage sites on Maharashtra’s sacred soil symbolize our rich mythological, cultural, and natural heritage. He said that the devotional traditions of Saint Dnyaneshwar, Saint Tukaram, and Saint Namdev fostered morality, harmony, and spiritual consciousness in society. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s indomitable courage and spirit of Swaraj instilled self-respect among Indians. Great leaders like Lokmanya Tilak, Veer Savarkar, and Gopal Krishna Gokhale championed national awakening during the freedom struggle.

  •  Presentations on the glorious folk culture and traditions of both the states

Presentations based on the glorious folk culture and historical traditions of Gujarat and Maharashtra were presented before Governor Shri Patel. He appreciated all the attractive cultural presentations. An attractive presentation on the theme of “Vibrant Spirit of Gujarat” was given by the Gujarati community in the function. The message of Gujarat Governor Archaya Devvrit was broadcast. A short film based on the history and art culture of Gujarat was also shown. Under the cultural presentation of Maharashtra, a presentation based on the history, spirituality and heritage of the state was given by I Saheb Group. Message of Maharashtra Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Verma and a short film based on the formation of Maharashtra state were shown.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel was given a traditional welcome by the representatives of Gujarat and Maharashtra residing in Madhya Pradesh, in accordance with the culture of their respective states. Marathi Satha and a memento were presented to Governor Shri Patel. Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Neeraj Mandloi, Principal Secretary to the Governor Dr. Navneet Mohan Kothari, Deputy Secretary Shri Sunil Dubey, President of Gujarati Samaj Shri Sanjay Patel, representatives of Marathi Samaj Shri Abhijeet Deshmukh, Mrs. Shaila Pradhan, citizens of both the states residing in Madhya Pradesh, officers and employees of Lok Bhavan were present in the joint function.
