To mark the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Chhattisgarh government and the completion of two years of the current state government, the “Suposhit Chhattisgarh Abhiyan” has been launched effectively in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. Launched under the guidance of Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, this campaign strongly demonstrates the state government’s commitment to addressing serious social challenges like malnutrition and anemia.

This campaign has been implemented simultaneously in eight sensitive and selected districts of the state—Balrampur, Surguja, Surajpur, Jashpur, Sukma, Dantewada, Narayanpur, and Bijapur—from January 1, 2026. The primary objective of the campaign is to ensure a malnutrition-free childhood and healthy motherhood. Under this campaign, special emphasis has been placed on eliminating malnutrition in children under the age of six and effectively reducing anemia in women aged 15 to 45, especially pregnant and lactating mothers.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the future of any state depends on the health of its children and the empowerment of its mothers. He clarified that the Chhattisgarh government is working against malnutrition not only through planning but also with a sensitive and humanitarian approach. This campaign symbolizes the shared responsibility of the government and society. Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade said that under the campaign, clear goals have been set to significantly reduce the rate of anemia among women, make substantial improvements in the nutritional levels of severely and moderately malnourished children, and further strengthen maternal and child health services in the next six months.

  • Special emphasis on community based malnutrition management programme

Under the Suposhit Chhattisgarh Abhiyan, a community-based malnutrition management program is being implemented to eliminate malnutrition. This program will focus on reducing malnutrition rates in the state and improving the well-nourishment of anemic pregnant women and malnourished children. Severely and moderately malnourished (SAM, MAM) children, children at risk, and pregnant women requiring medical treatment will be covered through special community-based interventions.

Under the campaign, nutrition ambassadors are being selected who will adopt 70 percent moderately malnourished and 30 percent severely malnourished children and ensure their regular care with the help of departmental schemes and community. Nutrition ambassadors will be provided incentives per child for bringing children to normal nutritional levels. Similarly, women self-help groups will also be involved in adopting malnourished children and caring for them, and they will be given incentives as per the prescribed honorarium.

A district-level management committee has been formed to effectively manage and continuously monitor malnutrition. Arrangements have also been made to provide nutritious food to malnourished children from local funds.
Through public support and community participation, the “Suposhit Chhattisgarh Abhiyan” is transforming into a widespread social movement. The state government’s goal is not just to improve statistics, but to ensure effective access to nutrition and health services for every child and every mother by bringing about positive behavioral changes. With continuous monitoring, transparent implementation, and local accountability, this campaign will prove to be a milestone in achieving decisive results against malnutrition and anemia.
